Open water fishing is near (although not as near as I would like) and I have a couple of questions.<P>First of all, I'm curious as to what people use when fishing with dead bait for northerns. Pound test line, what size hooks, leader or no, what size of bobber, and what kind of baits ect... <P>Another question is for suckers. I live about 4 miles up the Warroad River and, can I fish for em off my dock? What kind of baits should be used here and what size hooks? Do most people use bobbers? <P>Sorry if these questions seem a little basic. Thanks a million for any replies.<P> <P>------------------<BR>"Hard work beats talent when talent doesnt work hard"

Sucker huh? well i do know some bout fishing them i like to do it on the wild rice by Twin Valley. Well i have caught them with bout everthing but for number you cant beat a jig head that is dragged in the bottom or just sitting there so you can feel any hits, or a plain hook with a quarter to half once weight about a foot or so up the line. bait them with worms. or half a crawler. and yes you can fish them off the dock. its just like shorefishing. hope this helps you out and dont be surprised to caugth some walleys too.

If I live on the Warroad River, what would be the best depths to fish? Thanks.

i dont know really how deep but if there are some rapids they like to be right off the shore but in your river you ll have to either search around or find a local boy who knows where they are at. sorry for no good answers. thats all i can tell you.Hunter

Suckers can usually in the spring of the year be found around bridges and box culverts, or dams. Find water on the downstream side off to the side of the main current. Suckers will sit in those area's that have a little less current.<P>------------------<BR>Grip it and Rip it<P>IFFWalleyes<BR>I Fish For Walleyes

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
