Good Pole for bigger fish

Recommended Posts

JesseParker1

Hey all!!!

I am going out targeting bass and northerns tomorrow and wanted to get some advise on a good ice pole. I typically go for the panfish in the winter, but my buddy is telling me about this "secret spot", and he tells me there are some lunkers in there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jesse

I use a St.croix medium heavy with a cestus real for all my pike jiging and dead baits along with a tip up. Biggest taken on it was a 37" pike and it didnt seem to stress my gear at all

good luck to you

Moonie

I have a couple st croix premier rods... med and med-lt action. I've caught big pike and trout on both. A fast tip helps for adding quick action to heavier jigs, getting solid hook sets etc. Maybe go with Med to MH ...Probably more important is to have good line (maybe fireline crystal) and a reel with a good drag system on it for playing the fish. I've caught big pike on my noodle rod before. You just have to play them a lot more.

the prices for the rods vary but i use the same rods as moonie and they run from 40-50 depending on store and how much of the season is left. The cestus reals are very good ice reals with dependable drag ive never been let down by them wether is panfish or big cats threw the ice. i also agree on line choice minus i like the black stuff and pike dont seem to mind it but thats also out of habbit of use

Hey, Oakley is one of my favorite brands, but now many suppliers of wholesale sunglasses are accessible on the Internet selling sunglasses in bulk.

Now, a number of different sites are available on the Internet that are selling sunglasses in bulk.

Hi there, Polarized sunglasses of lens color like a grey base lens with a blue mirror is the way to go or for freshwater and inshore an amber, rose or copper lens with a green mirror are lenses that can be worn. My father is also a fisherman, So, I bought wholesale sun glasses for him from some useful sites. I always prefer to buy sunglasses in bulk, as buying bulk gives a number of choices to wear and it is also affordable in cost.

Hey Guys, I'm wondering what the water temp on the St.Croix is. I Haven't herd anything, all I know is that Catfish become inactive after it drops below 60F. I want to know if they have already become inactive, you would think we would at least have until October.    One more inquire,  anyone one know about a nice carp lake north of the metro. Most people don't like fishing for common carp, but they are a great fall fish to catch when they Get 30+ plus pounds.
