How are the ice condition???

Recommended Posts

CRANKBAIT_GUY2

I know they have been. But, it seems like they are getting better.

I'd like to get up there this weekend, but if I can't drive out on the lake, I'm not going.

Should I stay, or go?

I'll probably send a lot of time on the leaf lakes, and maybe little pine too.

Thanks

the smaller lakes are easier to get around on then the bigger ones... most of the smaller lakes I've been on you could drive anywhere with a 4x4.. haven't been much out on the big lakes yet.. I would be the snowmobile just in case...good luck

Haven't been to those lakes, but most lakes are drivable again. Just watch out for the snow drifts.

How are conditions on West Battle? Is it still snowmobiles only or can a guy get around with a truck (off the roads)?

I was on Ottertail last night. If you drive a truck out there, pray that you don't hit a slush pocket. We found many of them on the snowmobile but were able to blast through them. I don't think you'd do so well in a truck.

If you have a very good set of tires on a 4x4 you should be able to get around but dring a shovel !!! Last weekend there was some trucks working in tandam driving across the lake. 4 wheelers travle is working because you can ride on top of the snow. It is getting better out there. PS Am talking about Battle Lake

Hey Guys, I'm wondering what the water temp on the St.Croix is. I Haven't herd anything, all I know is that Catfish become inactive after it drops below 60F. I want to know if they have already become inactive, you would think we would at least have until October.    One more inquire,  anyone one know about a nice carp lake north of the metro. Most people don't like fishing for common carp, but they are a great fall fish to catch when they Get 30+ plus pounds.

All right man I'll make sure to tell you how I do, I have also been looking at the sunrise river. The sunrise Looks like one of those rivers that all the local kids fished in the 80's, But then it got polluted and over fished. I'll Try the sunrise one of these days, I don't know what i'll catch,  Maybe it's like in the Simpsons with those Three eyed fish.    As for the rum river, I can't wait to fish that. I'll wait for a nice cold front when all those small mouth start to eat everything in site, They need the fat for winter. I'll make sure to tell you how it goes.
