The bass fishing has been very good as of late on several Hutch area lakes as well as the pike bite - best bait has been a white willow leaf spinner bait w a Gulp 3" paddle tail working the outside weed edge. Top water action for bass has been good in the evening.  Crappies have now moved deep and the Sunnies are on their beds.

Was out on a lake just south of 55 and the ice is pretty sloppy. About 2" of water and slush. Can't think wait for the cold to freeze it all back up.

Had fish under me most of the time but really didn't start bitting until after dark. Kept a few sunfish and crappies. Had a northern hit but it got off right away.

Really? Last "report" was in January? ("No wonder I left this website years ago...")

...and a question as to why the most current posts are buried in the back?? Old posts should be in the back... newest on the front page. That's probably why nobody spends time here anymore...

Here are images of my son's catches taken in the last week from Maple Lake:

Fished Clearwater Saturday morning for a few hours.  Found sunnies and a few crappies in 7-10 feet of water right in the weeds. Black was the color that seemed to work best.

Well... not so sure I want to post reports where I actually divulge the lake!! Just remembered how people will just flock to lakes and poach them dry!! It's been almost 10 years since I did serious fishing but my son has stoked the fire... I enjoy just putting him on a bite... he gets SO excited it's truly heartwarming to see...

Was out near Annandale Monday afternoon and night fishing for crappies. At sunset is when they started to bite in about 17’ of water. Not any big ones but kept 8 that’ll fry up good.

The snow on the lake proved to much for a small SUV so after he got off the lake with no little effort a plow truck came out to get a fish house off. I walked out of corse.

The snow is definitely a hindrance right now. Walking through all that snow is tough on the ole body.

Couldn't have said it better. Almost as if you were working in wet cement today.

Was pondering out there just how short our summer will be;  only 36 weeks until Christmas.....

With the snow cover completely gone and lots of standing water, 60s in the forecast, with plenty of sunny days next week, and a good chance of rain mid-week; this may be my last weekend on the ice, South of Hwy 210 anyway . Fish have really been on the chew5ada9a37844ed_0419181759a1.thumb.jpg.b566514791b4b85cd6b1b726ba5eff9c.jpg5ada9a5de9cc5_0419180926a1.thumb.jpg.ca51d0cc45acffc91b3c9825b40047b3.jpg5ada9a9d5dc84_04191809361.thumb.jpg.7292eac486396ffa275d30f2ae71ba2c.jpg

With the lake being lower there are several areas that the ice could be iffy.

Hey everyone.  I know the lakes have been high up there, but hows the fishing been?  My wife and I will be celebrating our anniversary weekend this month out on Clearwater.  I don't need spots.  I'm familiar with the lake.  I just want to know if anyone is catching anything.  This is a pretty quiet board.

Bowkill78, Most everything is going some place on the Clearwater lake. Bass, pike and walleyes. It all depends on your choice of equipment and what you hope to try for.  Panfish and bass are on beds, trolling can also hookup with a pike or walleye.

Was up last weekend with the wife.  Got into some nice panfish and Pike.  Did a lot of goofing off once the lake got busy with the band.  All of the young kids with boats tearing up the lake made it tough to fish.  Had weeds floating all over. We still managed to eat fish and bring some home for our family.  Will be back up in a couple weeks with the family.  Hopefully can put some numbers on the board. I know my son is eager to chase northern and walleyes.

Even with all the boat traffic you can find a areas to get away from the busy water.  I had a guide trip last weekend and still got some nice bass.  The wind blew so hard,  I looked for calmer areas , safety first when clients are on the water.

Now that the 4th is over it should settle down out there.  Really looking forward to getting back up to the lake.  I hardly ever bass fish anymore but I need to go out and catch some again.  That's all I did when I was younger.  Might be the year to catch a few leopard frogs and go out and whack em.  Used to love fishing that way.  Sounds like a throw back year.

Looking to trade for a Mossberg 510 mini. Ive got B2's or other waterfowl equipment. Possibly a 9.8 merc that needs an impeller. Tell me what you want.

I dunno @LoonASea, I used to wonder the same thing.  But I have seen several floaters plucked off the water’s surface by eagles before they were completely dead.   I had the same comment about hooking mortality on Mille Lacs; how can they say such things without seeing a bunch of floaters?  Then I started hearing from friends that actually fish the lake that say they see them often since the tight slots have come into effect.     Rush Lake by Rush City had reports of hundreds of dead crappies under the ice by Crane Island.  A deep hole I’ve fished myself and put back lots of crappies I’ve had to close the mouth on to get them to swim back down the hole.  Made me wonder...   What I like about the ND study is it’s actually a study, not just feelings or intuition.  I don’t like the news any more than most with the exception that it lends some reference to an often debated topic.  Some “proof” if you will.  I’ve felt this to be an issue for several years already but didn’t have anything to refer to except my own personal experiences.  So I’ll continue to fish with this information in mind and continue to look for more.

On Gen 1 build I uses a 720p camera I sealed inside a small flashlight. On Gen 2 I purchased the camera, cable olreadr on a reel with a 1200TVL resolution. From what I can determine it should equal or better than Gen 1. Video of the Gen 1. Gen 2 not complete till after ice out.

Hello, I am new to this site but came here in hopes someone...anyone can point me in a direction to purchase Minnesota wild rice to plant.  I live in Maine and want to plant some in my farm pond for myself and my ducks.  Any info is greatly appreciated as I am only able to find parched rice on line.   Thank you for any direction you can point me in.  Respectfully, Lora-Jean

If catching a fish out of water too deep for a safe release and releasing it ,,,,, Why arent the cabin / lakeshore owners complaining about lots of dead fish washing up on shore??? ,,, Do they sink to the bottom ,,,they cant all be eaten by birds

mbeyer, can't be from this year, can it?
    • JerkinLips
Colder weather is better for the venison, but the warm days were sure nice for sitting in the stand or in the boat that year.

On a better note, I left the North Arm and headed south. Had fun playing with my new Garmin Live Scope. I probably would not have caught anything today without it. The fish were there but extremely picky. You had to use just the right action to entice a hit. Kinda like ice fishing for stubborn walleyes. Very small lure as well. I caught everything vertical jigging where I could see how the fish were reacting - nothing casting.   Would have weighed in about 18 pounds if I had been in the tournament. Maybe I should enter - then if I see you catch a fish, I can hover right over your spot. Apparently paying an entry fee allows you to disrespect other fishermen.     Rainy2019-9-14.mp4

Idiot loose on Rainy!   Day started out nice and then on my first spot am anchored up for 30 minuters and casting about 50 feet away on a reef. Here comes a big Ranger headed right at me. I figure it must be one of my buddies to come so close but I don't recognize him. Does he stop at 100 feet away? NO. Does he stop 50 feet away - NO. How about 25 feet? again no, He come withing 10 feet and then says," SORRY TO CROWD YOU BUT I AM IN A BASS TOURNAMENTt" !!!?? Then he proceeds to go right where I am casting - I lose it and go ballistic. Why does he think you can hover right over where somebody is casting? IDIOT! Whole lake to fish and he has to start TEN feet from my boat.   I left the North Arm where I had planned to spend the day. Didn't need to run into any more jerks. Went south. Ended up with about an 18 pound bag of 5 bass. See next video for more enjoyable viewing.   https://youtu.be/aGgdkHGLkvM Idiot_tournament_fisherman..mp4
