DNR Raises Walleye Quote For Next Year?

Recommended Posts

Paul Waldowski

The safe-harvest quotas for Lake Mille Lacs have been raised for the 2009 fishing season after a slow bite last season.

The overall walleye harvest has been set at 541,000 pounds. That's 111,000 pounds more than the 430,000 pounds allowed last season, when sport anglers took only 76,000 pounds. Officials attribute the slow bite to an unusual abundance of bait fish in the lake.

The allocation for sport anglers this year will be 414,500 pounds, up 107,000 pounds from the 307,500 pounds allowed last year.

Eight Ojiibwe Indian bands that signed an 1837 treaty can take 126,500 pounds of walleye this season, up 4,000 pounds from 122,500 pounds last year.

Fisheries officials will determine after the ice fishing season whether to change the current walleye limits for the lake.

Thanks for the info Paul. Should be interesting to see what they do with limits and slots.

Wow! I was under the impression that wasn't going to change for a long time. I'll have my ears open.

You don't think they'd change the slot do you, Maybe just up the daily limit???

Thanks for forwarding that info, Its Interesting. I know this could start a brew ha but, does this take in account the attrition rate for released fish? I'm just wondering, I think the higher number is great, for the resort industry and the anglers. Thanks again smile

Hey, Oakley is one of my favorite brands, but now many suppliers of wholesale sunglasses are accessible on the Internet selling sunglasses in bulk.

Now, a number of different sites are available on the Internet that are selling sunglasses in bulk.

Hi there, Polarized sunglasses of lens color like a grey base lens with a blue mirror is the way to go or for freshwater and inshore an amber, rose or copper lens with a green mirror are lenses that can be worn. My father is also a fisherman, So, I bought wholesale sun glasses for him from some useful sites. I always prefer to buy sunglasses in bulk, as buying bulk gives a number of choices to wear and it is also affordable in cost.

Hey Guys, I'm wondering what the water temp on the St.Croix is. I Haven't herd anything, all I know is that Catfish become inactive after it drops below 60F. I want to know if they have already become inactive, you would think we would at least have until October.    One more inquire,  anyone one know about a nice carp lake north of the metro. Most people don't like fishing for common carp, but they are a great fall fish to catch when they Get 30+ plus pounds.
