Biggest Northern In Metro

Speaking of metro pike. I'm coming up for the weekend from school. I technically live in the metro but am down south for school I do all of my fishing south. I'm looking for some pike action not looking for anything huge just looking for some C&R flag chasing. [email protected]

KTapper, what area are you aiming to go? All the lakes in the NE metro are pretty good pike waters. Big marine, forest, carnelian, chisago chain.

How about the smallest metro pike? I caught about a 9 incher out of big marine last year.

Since I live in Dakota co. I would say anywhere there or any of the neighboring counties.

Smallest would be about 12 inches. He was hungy cause the lure he hit was almost as big as he was.

KTapper, then marion lake in lakeville right on hwy 35 would be about the only place I can think of. I've never fished it, but from all the reports I've read about it you shouldn't expect much for size.

Yeah I was at marion 2 weeks ago. One flag no fish. tiny tiny panfish there.

I caught a little northern, maybe 10 or 11 inches, on the Minnehaha Creek just under the Gray's Bay dam casting a small Mepps for panfish. Same spot I've had northerns about the same size or smaller hit a sucker colored Giant Jackpot I was throwing for some big pike I'd seen, but no hook ups.

Try a tank with bullheads in it they live forever and don't need much care

My biggest would have to be a 34in out of Waconia in the summer.

There are a lot of big pike around the metro. within the metro my biggest is 39 between 15-20 lbs, I have caught a lot of fish between the 30-35 inch range as well.

I caught this one on Saturday on a tip-up in the metro. She went 11 1/2 lbs and very, very healthy. By far my biggest pike on a tip-up. If you look close you can see the top of the IDS tower in the background.

I caught this northern in January on Lake Minnetonka. Got it on a tip-up with a sucker minnow as bait. It's 33" long and weighed 10+ lbs. A real fatty. It's the biggest northern I've caught.

Well, here's my biggest pike. Caught her in a smaller west metro lake. 36" and I didn't get her on the scale but by how fat she was I'm guessing around 14lbs. Other than that I've had quite a few in the 34-35" range out of the mississippi a little farther south, but I don't consider that metro.
