Any one give me an update on Little Boy? I was up there on new years, and the fishing was terrible. Anything happening with better weather?

I had good fishing around new years and then very slow after that. I haven't been up for a few weeks but the fishing usually picks up into feb. I'll be up next week weekend and hopefully have a good report.

Most Panfish guys just started moving around this past weekend. The ice travel is getting better. Hopefully the rain we are getting right now will knock the snow down some more and make it even better. The middle of February is historically when the panfish action heats up around Hackensack/Longville. Hope for some warm weather and sun, that will get them going.

Has the slush problem got any better? Looking to head up in near future. Either of you guys fish around little boy, or wabedo?

I'm on little boy but can't speak of the slush. Just deep snow making travel very difficult last time I was up. Reports from the area sound like the slush is getting better.

Talked to my buddie up there and he's doing absolutely terrible. Couldn't catch a fish if his life depended on it. He usually ends up just getting wasted at the Ancorage every night cause the fishing always sucks.

Sadly fishlakeman is right. We fished leech most of the weekend and caught small walleyes and a few perch. Set tip-ups out on Little Boy for a couple hours monday morning before leaving and didn't even get a flag. We did however stimulate the longville economy friday and saturday night.

Making plans to head up to little boy on 3-20 hope to get some pannies. Wondering if anybody has been out on wabedo? Might have to stimulate the anchorage also. I like the updated place but it seems like over the years we have lost the simple beer joints. I remember going to THE BLUE HERON. Used to have a ton of fun in that place! I drove by Florios at its new location a few weeks ago. Miss that place too!

Florio's rocks and it's bigger and better!

The problem is it isn't in Longville anymore and it's a pretty long drive for a steak and a beer!

Hey Cobra,

Where is the new Florio's at? They use to have the best streak and shrimp! The shrimp were HUGE!! Anchorage Inn is good, but gets old after awhile. Patrick's is OK. We ate at the new restraunt on Big Thunder last fall when we were closin up the cabin. Food was good but had to wait a long time!

I remember the picture you are talking about, but I think it was last year some time and I just don't think I could wad through all of Duff's politic fall out to find it!  😵   One of my buddies put up those adhesive backed thin cork-board squires on two of his cabin walls. Pretty fun idea of his family growing up at the cabin.  With fishing, hunting pictures mixed in.

Looks like their still running the small motel. Hope they rebuild it was a pretty nice place when they remodeled a few years ago.

Head-O-Lakes and Wakemup were pretty much ice free this past weekend.  Spring Bay has ice as it's really protected.  Some ice in Richie but the west wind on Monday pushed it all to the east end.

Sounds like cost/benefit analysis is underway...

I tried finding the pic @Duffman posted of the board he put together for his basement/bar I think it was but no dice.  Too much for me sift through.  It was pretty cool though and maybe in line with the OP’s idea.   @leech~~, got some time and mad search skills to dig that one up?

How is the ice build-up coming along? I can't wait until Head-O-Lakes and Wakemup freeze so that I can get to my place across the ice. I'm hoping for another low-slush year.

Jim Zupancich, who works out of the flagship store in Ely, said the Zup’s in Cook has been in business for more than 20 years. He added: “We do OK there. It’s a living. We’ll get back on our feet.”   Jim didn't give much of an endorsement but I understand the economics. One of the early articles had the store manager saying that they would rebuild. A later article quoted one of the Zupancich's saying that they would assess the possibility of rebuilding. I think that we all hope that they will rebuild, and hopefully they had good insurance to make it an easy choice.

As of mid July nothing was going on there. I drove in there, think I parked in the bar!

Picked up a new supply of pretreated cleaning patches and some Blackhorn loading tubes tonight at Shooting Sports.   I’m just dabbling with getting things ready but the more I do, the more motivated I get to go.  Too bad you’re so wrapped up in hockey this time of year that you can’t really get into it now!  Good to spend time with the kids but ignoring the call is tough.

Drove by there this morning.  Definitely a sad deal for owners, employees and people in the community.  I also feel for the deer hunters who lost the deer there being processed.  We are hopeful that they will rebuild.
