New Wild Coach!

Recommended Posts

Bear55

JL is one of the premier coaches in the NHL

Look what he accomplishes EVERY season with a team consisting of lots of young blood..

We dont need a new coach. We need an owner who can cough up the money to keep our Key players on the roster

I agree about the coach and we are already spending close the cap. If anything needs to change its the GM. He doesn't have any glaring mistakes but when you add up some of the trades, drafting, signing UFA or resigning our own guys he seems pretty medioce.

Do free-agents want to come here and play in a boring defensive system where one mistake can land you in JL's dog house for basically ever.?

Sure JL might be part of the problem but he can do more with less than any coach out there. I'd be ok with a wholesale change at coach and general manager to help give this team a jump start and new identity.

I agree he's the Bill Musselmen of Hockey and can take a bunch of stiffs and make them play competitively in his defensive system. No doubt he's a good coach in that aspect and is the reason for our success to this point.

My point is will good free-agent players buy into that and come here...I'm not so sure about that!

Any player in the league knows that a spot on the WILD means a position with a team that can compete against anyone, at most anytime, and home ice that cannot match any other venue out there...

They are a team who can win games when they are on theirs..

agreed that JL is a very defensive minded coach, but grab another Koivu or 2... and we have all the offense we need to place 2 scoring lines onto the ice. With that... Game on.

Free Agent players go where the money is.. thats the only downfall we have.

Defense wins championships, the wild are just short a couple of above average fowards, we have way to many average to below average fowards, with the defense we have and goal tending this team could go somewhere if they could get just alittle more offense out of those average players

I'm sorry but its official Riseborough and JL have to go...

I know we've won a few lately but i don't see any light at the end of the tunnel its time to punt these two. The X is going to be a morgue if they continue with this style and these management decisions.

Seriously if they announce another sell-out when the place isn't even close to sold out one more time I'm going to Hurl..

I feel better now thanks... grin

I agree with Pier on this one.

DR has to go for sure. He has not done a very good job of getting quality forwards in.

I think JL is a great coach but if the really good offensive players won't come here then the Wild will always be an average team drafting in the middle of the 1st round. If DR can't draft him some offense then the Wild will never score.

I also agree that their style of play isn't that exciting. Watch Detroit and how they move the puck. Much funner game to watch.

How about another minnesota boy, Kevin Constantine. He's from my hometown, Int'l Falls and has previous NHL experience. He's also coaching the Houston team in the AHL..

JL will retire.

DR will be fired........maybe.

They maybe bring in Mike Milbury as GM.....Jim Shoenfeld as coach.

smile

Could happen?

I think KC is a far better AHL coach than an NHL coach. I've heard rumblings about Pierre Page taking over. . Anyone hear the same? Thoughts?

First sits of the weekend occurred for me this past weekend. Friday morning was kind of odd I thought as birds where gobbling very early.  I figure because of the full moon, the sky was bright long before shooting time.  After flydown the gobblers were very quiet with very sporatic gobbling all morning.  Sat until noon without seeing a single bird. Friday afternoon was very active, good amount of gobbles between 4:30-6:30pm.  Had a group of 2 large gobblers walk by about 5pm and at 5:15pm had a group of 3 young toms walk by at 30 yrds not presenting a shot. My blind in very near a roost site so I left the blind about 7:30 so not to get caught at dark if they decided to roost there.  On approach to the bean field I watched 2 very large toms work the field, until the neighbor shot and both birds scooted out. Saturday, had Abigail with her 20ga.  Again plenty of early roost gobbling in all directions.  A little more gobbling after flydown as well.  I assume the same 3 young toms from Friday worked by us at 6:30am never really acknowledging us other than gobbling as they pastes us at 50yds.   About a half hour later, I called in a loud mouth hen that actually fanned out for our up right Avian x hen decoy.  That would be last bird sighted for the morning although we has gobblers walk by out of sight 2 more times. I left the woods alone the rest of the weekend as the landowners kids and grandkids were home for Easter and like to enjoy the woods when home.   In the end a good and frustrating weekend.  The birds were definitely not buying what I was selling as far as calling was concerned.  Something I was doing was off, as they may have walked by, did not really investigate much and didnt hardly look at the decoy.   Good luck guys and gals.

Drove past Osakis on my way home this evening and it is pretty much ice free.

Little O really lost the ice today!!!!!!!  won't be long now!!!!

Show some optimism!😝  The forecast has dropped some but I don't see the ice lasting much past the 1st.  I went out in front of my parents on Frazer...some of the latter ice to go...was sketchy enough I turned around and went back.  Opener is certainly a non-issue.  My boat goes in next wknd...but my back bay allows me to do that!

Saw the first boat launched at Battle Point access about 2:00 this afternoon. Three guys were out for about an hour and came back and took the boat out. Don't know if they fished or just checked to see if any ice remained on the lake.
