Coming up this weekend. Staying on Pine Point. Anyone know if there are any roads out of there. Have 1 sled. Could bring some ATVs but it sounds like they're not much use. Hoping to get out a ways with the trucks, go from there.

I too am curious about truck/wheelhouse access onto leech lake.

I spoke to many of the resorts around walker and none of the ones i have talked with have plowed roads. A few of them claimed there is decent access out of the public access in walker. One of the resorts i talked to said Anderson's Grand Vu has roads plowed, i have tried to call them 4 or 5 times with no success.

I really want to bring the wheel house up (never fished leech), but without confirmation, it's not looking good.

from what I have heard if your fishing walker bay don't bother bringing anything other than your snowmobile and portable unless you want to spend your time shoveling.

I have also heard that there are limited roads off Andersons Grand Vu. However it didn't sound like you could explore to far off those roads unless you had snowmobiles.

I 'm on pine point and will be up there this weekend. might be to late for some of you but will report back on the status.

After spending the past hour or so on the phone tracking down information, this is what i found;

the public access in walker, onto walker bay, is tough going and snowmobiles are recommended.

if you want roads and the ability to get onto the lake with a vehicle, the only resort i have been told with roads is Anderson's grand Vu on Pine Point. 3 other resorts around the area, as well as his dad, have confirmed this.

Looks like i'll be bringing up the wheel house after all. grin

edited to add; more or less what Tweeder said above.

I think with the thaw thats coming statewide next week will settle alot of the snow down. The following week cold again.

Hopefully with the melt down and a hard refreeze, we will be able travel again!!

Not sure If we are going up now this weekend or not, if we do will keep an eye out for you. If its perch your looking for the pine point area is pretty popular, the Grand Vu side has been the best for me in the past. Dont get a lot of walleyes out there, usually head into walker bay and fish the humps for those.

Good luck

Just not sure where you will be able to get to.

caught 2-man limits of 17" walleyes every day.  biggest eyes were 26".  trolled cranks and worked jig/lindy rig w/ leeches in 8-12'.  friend's first trip to Rainy and he CPR'd a 40" pike!  he's hooked now!

Hard to find a lake up the trail not chock-full of invasive smallmouth. Slip bobbers and leeches, and cast towards shoreline rock piles.

Why do you fish? We all have different goals when we go fishing. Some of us want a meal of fish to eat. Some of us just want to relax. Most of all, we want that "TROPHY" catch. We want something to brag to our friends about, the "Master Angler".

I was not going to go yesterday but the weather was too nice to stay home. Fished about 5 hours but only got 4 bass and one pike. Not one hit on my go-to jigs & plastic! I don't recall that ever happening over 5 hours. Got a few bass on surface lures (and the pike) and a few on cranks. Water was almost 6 degrees warmer than the day before. The nights finally stayed above the low 40s so that has to have helped.   I have been marking very few fish in water less than 30 feet. I rarely fish deeper than that.   Got desperate a few days ago and went down to Pelican. Not much better down there. A few crappie and dink pike and about 6 nice bass.   Headed north of Red Lake, Ontario in a week. Hope things are going better way up there.

My wife and 2 Labs are boat camping on the east side of the Brule Narrows this week. We have been here dozens of times, but with late spring, I am wondering what patterns are working for the smallies and walleyes. Thanks 'Pout

I believe @Rick raises them.   But I don’t think he has a dual sport bike....

Cobra, welcome back.  To bad no replies in almost 3 years to your inquiry.  Their beautiful dogs but there must not be many owners of them on here?  🤔   Like I have been asking for about 4 years if there are any Dual Sport bike owners on this site?  😉

I haven't been on the website in a long time so long delayed reaction. Sorry   I do have an English Pointer and I live in Longville. My old dog passed away a few weeks ago at almost 15 years old!!! I still have my young dog with special bloodlines. His father came from the last vial of Guard Rail semen. So to have a grandson of a Hall of Fame dog that died in the early 80's is very rare.
