Where to go this weekend

Recommended Posts

mrklean

Im coming up to the St cloud area this weekend and am taking my g/f out fishing, since graduating i havent fished up there since last winter. What a decent lake to at least keep her entertained for a few hours. I always fished pearl, grand, little rock and a little bit of pleasant when i was up there. I dont think i would go to the chain though.

Something against the chain? Heck of a multi species destination. Not that there is anything wrong with grand , pearl, and pleasant if you like catching tater chip size panfish and tiny northerns lol. Just kidding they can be good lakes. They are getting a few fish on pleasant down in the second group of houses farthest from the access.

I guess I just Jim'd ya, check out the thread in this forum about Camp Lake! I was waiting for a HA HA pink. Although the jury is still out on it. Also, if you are fishing around St. Cloud, from what I read elsewhere, it is mountain lion area so be alert wink

If you looking for action Rice is hard to beat right now for crappies. Size is tough to come by but she'll be setting the hook alot.

I have to agree with you Borch. LOTS of little fish so if you want action, it's a pretty good bet. Lots of traffic out there though. Was out Sat night overnight and pulled in some (all under 10" one that was 12"). Eyes were quiet. Rattle wheels didn't ring at all. Fishing in 20 fow. Their were a lot of guys moving their houses the next morning.

I read the post for camp lake and it sounded like I shouldn't even waist my time. And then I talked to my buddy and he had said that they do pretty well when they go there. Nice size crappies and eyes when there biting.

I fished at the Forbes canoe access below the dam one day. And caught a 16 inch on a fly. I will give it a float and report back after the fourth

Any tips on smallies up there? First time coming up.

Nice report as usual, Hoey. We are fishing Wed and Thurs. Sounds like it will be ugly hot coming up. Hopefully, the fish will finally get into their summer patterns.

Definitely hit up some trails. My kids love to hike and explore. They surprise me with their willingness to keep trekking along.

As long as there are bugs to eat, the trout will always hit the surface. As summer progresses, there will be less and less trout to catch.

Does it ever quit blowing?  Tough conditions this week. Fish scattered all over the place.  Bass hitting the best, panfish the least. Walleyes in the middle.  Best for us has been late afternoon on lindys and leeches. Nothing great but with the warmup coming I think things will improve. Did see a 7-8 lber caught ,  on a Daredevil of all things.  Keep the beer cold.  Go get em.  Rayguy

Hey guys! We were up last weekend but only got to fish for a few hours. We caught a bunch of pike anywhere from mid teens in length to the low 20” range. We also caught a few bass and a few walleyes. Biggest eye was 19. We contacted all our fish from 16-20 feet. Most of our bites came on a jig and minnow. My wife and brother and law were trolling spinners but only managed pike. We did try crawlers without any success but again we were only out for a few hours. We fished on whitefish and targeted bars and a couple of wind blown underwater points. Good luck this weekend! Maybe we’ll see ya out there!
