We fished browns from 4pm to 10pm. All we pulled was two small eyes from a 17 foot break near spirit island. I personally didn't even mark any fish. Anyone have any luck?

I also fished Browns last night from 3pm until 8am today and found little action at 35'. One 13" at 2a.m. on a fathead and chartruese hook.. that was it except for a few marks on the vex. Quite a few groups of houses on Browns last night...any other reports? Hoping to do some searching this afternoon.

Good luck

Was out all day yesterday and did pretty well. I brought home 15 nice sun fish and at about 2:30 switched to walleye fishing and after about two hours of dealing with the pesky perch I caught two nice 17 inch wallleyes between 4:30 and 5:00 and unfortunatly I had to pack up at 5:15 to get home. Caught the walleyes in about 20ft of water.

Do not give up! Fishing is like poker as long as you have a minnow and a chair you are still in!

Good Luck Fishing!

Tried out on St Alban's Bay this morning. About 22 ft of water. Tied into a nice pike, got him up the hole, then my jig popped right out of his mouth. I thought about grabbing him by the mouth with my bare hands, then thought better of it. Nothing spectacular, but I would have liked at least a picture!

Wayzata bay from 3PM-1AM on friday and ended up with around 20 small eyes, and a dozen medium sized perch. On to a new spot to find a better class of walleye.

Thats a shame, don't be afraid to grab the pike under the gills or by the back of the head and lay him on the ice until you can get a better grip. Sounds like you could have used a buddy assisting you with this guy.

i fish in a buddies rikety trailer in echo bay jusy south of big island. We were doing pretty well for the first part of the season just doing tip ups for pike but now for the last 2 weeks its completely shut down out there? We did snag a nice 5 lbs walleye though. Trying find a new spot now. Does anyoe have any ideas where to go? He likes the big island area because he lives in tonka bay right by the lake. Its like pullin teeth to get him to move confused!

I just fished the lake the first time yesterday and drove by an access to browns bay. It was off MN Hwy 15(shoreline dr), right off the side of the road. I was heading west on US Hwy 12, then exited on MN 15 west. After a couple miles on 15 the lake access was on the left side of the road and there is a green browns bay sign near it. THere is a good path out to a village in the bay.

People are driving ALL over that lake, it was completely criss-crossed with tracks last night. We accessed the lake in Wayzata but drove close to 3 miles before we found a spot we liked. Still got skunked though.

18-19" of ice on West Arm, Phelps, & The Gap.

Lots of Ice. Watch out for snowmobiles and fast cars!!

I would get to browns bay from the Wayzata access.

If you have any questions about ice thickness out there...drill a hole!

Fished for crappies Saturday evening. Bite was slow n steady from 5:30-7:30. We were in 25'. Most aggressive fish were between 8-13' of water.

Caught close to 20 in total. Everything was 9" or less with the exception of a 14" slab. Small glow jigs w/ small crappie minnows worked best.

U can tag along this Sat Honda4life. I caught 2 lil eyes and a lil pike on Sat night. Fished from 4-10 in Browns. Going to a new spot next time. This is the year of new spots.

My buddies out on some hump caught and kept 3. Biggest was a 20"er.

I'm going out of Wayzata beach along with everyone else. Browns bay has a winter access on 15 but you should have 4x4 as it's a steep decline/incline.

I was on Crystal both sat. and sun. Lots of ice lots of vehicles. Only 1 flag, just a bump and run. The Pike fishing has been real slow compared to normal. I did get 7-8 good gills each day so that made for a nice meal.

Must have been on the Excelsior to Wayzata Ice Freeway. Those people are so stupid, they literally go like 55 all the way across.

I was hoping for more snow to keep them from this shortcut.

anyone know a public access to St. Alban's bay? Or does the marina there let you use their ramp in winter?

Right across the street from the marina is a parking lot for fishing the bridge. I parked there and walked out. It looks like you can drive out of the marina (I didn't really check it out), but they have a hockey rink cleared out right there so try not to mess it up.

Not sure how to edit title...but it's at $500 now. Great deal!  I'm looking to upgrade, only reason why I'm selling.

Stephen, I would double check that the leeches are decent. The leeches I picked up for opener I would be embarrassed to feed to sunfish 1 at a time. A bait store in Oakdale had very nice leeches last weekend. I highly recommend them. Good luck on Vermilion- we need some warmer temps.   Steve

Following. Headed up in the morning to beat the traffic up, however, it looks like it will be raining unfortunately. The girls went out last night to buy new rain gear so we will be ready. Just made a post on the Facebook page fishing Minnesota as to where everyone’s favorite bait shop is. We usually stop by the bait shop in Harris. I called this morning to confirm that they have leeches available.

Headed up tomorrow for the long weekend.  People still seeing most walleye action on minnows?  We used chubs and rainbows last weekend, didn't seem to be a difference between the two.

Chatter about conditions on rainy has been quiet... Anyone out there been doing any good?

Thanks John! We are coming up in 7 days and hoping for warm. Would love to see more updates as the week progresses.  Will post our results

Happy to be on Lake Vermilion! EZfishUSA.com gets you fishing next to the guides without the time and cost of searching yourself. As a guide I can only use a fraction of my knowledge on any given day of guiding out on the water. I will be marketing fish catching locations on EZfishUSA.com. Walleye, Musky, Smallies, Largemouth, Crappie, Panfish, Trout in their respective seasons. Lake Vermilion can be intimidating and a hard lake to locate fish on. For a fraction of the cost of hiring me for a long boat ride(which I am Booked daily in the summer for guided fishing trips) you can use your own boat to go out and be on fish. Smaller lakes in the area are also a blast and available on the site. Each guide sets their own prices and the platform is free for them to use. Guides are interviewed before being granted access. I encourage folks with questions to call the customer service line on the site. Happy fishing everyone!  JTeeth

Due to persistent flooding and damage from the winter’s hefty snowpack and spring’s heavy rains, Fort Snelling State Park will remain closed to the public through Memorial Day weekend and the month of June. Located at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers near the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Fort Snelling State Park is one of Minnesota’s busiest parks and is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, birders and school groups. “We know how eager folks are to get out and enjoy nature now that spring has finally arrived, but making sure the park is safe for staff and park visitors is critical before opening,” said Fort Snelling State Park manager Kelli Bruns. “The park experienced significant damage to its main roads, and water lines, and there are downed trees and trail washouts that need to be repaired. Meanwhile, we hope people will consider visiting one of our other state parks.” The closure could remain in effect until sometime in July, depending on weather conditions and work progress. Department of Natural Resources and park staff want to remind people to refrain from coming into Fort Snelling State Park. “We are asking the public to not enter the park at this time. This is important for their own safety and allows workers a safe place to complete repairs and clean-up. Emergency responders would have difficulty locating people in the closed park if needed,” Bruns said. The DNR is committed to working on opening the park as soon as possible. The DNR encourages people to get out and enjoy Minnesota’s outdoors as the first holiday weekend of the season approaches. Birds are singing their spring songs, and wildflowers are in full bloom across the state. But due to the ongoing wet weather, the DNR would like to remind people to check on current conditions before heading out. For more information, consult www.mndnr.gov/closures.     Discuss below - to view set the hook here.

Has anyone been out yet this year?  I haven't even put the boat in the water yet, I'm hoping to change that this weekend!    I don't know if people saw but a boat burnt up on Big Pine this past weekend.  They left the access going to their dock and the driver smelt something so stopped shut down the engine and found the fire.  Extinguisher was used but didn't put the fire out.  Other fisherman came and rescued the driver thankfully.  Take away is please check your fire extinguishers and make sure you break in your motors nice and easy in the beginning, you never know where a mouse has left a present for you to find later.
