We fished browns from 4pm to 10pm. All we pulled was two small eyes from a 17 foot break near spirit island. I personally didn't even mark any fish. Anyone have any luck?

I also fished Browns last night from 3pm until 8am today and found little action at 35'. One 13" at 2a.m. on a fathead and chartruese hook.. that was it except for a few marks on the vex. Quite a few groups of houses on Browns last night...any other reports? Hoping to do some searching this afternoon.

Good luck

Was out all day yesterday and did pretty well. I brought home 15 nice sun fish and at about 2:30 switched to walleye fishing and after about two hours of dealing with the pesky perch I caught two nice 17 inch wallleyes between 4:30 and 5:00 and unfortunatly I had to pack up at 5:15 to get home. Caught the walleyes in about 20ft of water.

Do not give up! Fishing is like poker as long as you have a minnow and a chair you are still in!

Good Luck Fishing!

Tried out on St Alban's Bay this morning. About 22 ft of water. Tied into a nice pike, got him up the hole, then my jig popped right out of his mouth. I thought about grabbing him by the mouth with my bare hands, then thought better of it. Nothing spectacular, but I would have liked at least a picture!

Wayzata bay from 3PM-1AM on friday and ended up with around 20 small eyes, and a dozen medium sized perch. On to a new spot to find a better class of walleye.

Thats a shame, don't be afraid to grab the pike under the gills or by the back of the head and lay him on the ice until you can get a better grip. Sounds like you could have used a buddy assisting you with this guy.

i fish in a buddies rikety trailer in echo bay jusy south of big island. We were doing pretty well for the first part of the season just doing tip ups for pike but now for the last 2 weeks its completely shut down out there? We did snag a nice 5 lbs walleye though. Trying find a new spot now. Does anyoe have any ideas where to go? He likes the big island area because he lives in tonka bay right by the lake. Its like pullin teeth to get him to move confused!

I just fished the lake the first time yesterday and drove by an access to browns bay. It was off MN Hwy 15(shoreline dr), right off the side of the road. I was heading west on US Hwy 12, then exited on MN 15 west. After a couple miles on 15 the lake access was on the left side of the road and there is a green browns bay sign near it. THere is a good path out to a village in the bay.

People are driving ALL over that lake, it was completely criss-crossed with tracks last night. We accessed the lake in Wayzata but drove close to 3 miles before we found a spot we liked. Still got skunked though.

18-19" of ice on West Arm, Phelps, & The Gap.

Lots of Ice. Watch out for snowmobiles and fast cars!!

I would get to browns bay from the Wayzata access.

If you have any questions about ice thickness out there...drill a hole!

Fished for crappies Saturday evening. Bite was slow n steady from 5:30-7:30. We were in 25'. Most aggressive fish were between 8-13' of water.

Caught close to 20 in total. Everything was 9" or less with the exception of a 14" slab. Small glow jigs w/ small crappie minnows worked best.

U can tag along this Sat Honda4life. I caught 2 lil eyes and a lil pike on Sat night. Fished from 4-10 in Browns. Going to a new spot next time. This is the year of new spots.

My buddies out on some hump caught and kept 3. Biggest was a 20"er.

I'm going out of Wayzata beach along with everyone else. Browns bay has a winter access on 15 but you should have 4x4 as it's a steep decline/incline.

I was on Crystal both sat. and sun. Lots of ice lots of vehicles. Only 1 flag, just a bump and run. The Pike fishing has been real slow compared to normal. I did get 7-8 good gills each day so that made for a nice meal.

Must have been on the Excelsior to Wayzata Ice Freeway. Those people are so stupid, they literally go like 55 all the way across.

I was hoping for more snow to keep them from this shortcut.

Right across the street from the marina is a parking lot for fishing the bridge. I parked there and walked out. It looks like you can drive out of the marina (I didn't really check it out), but they have a hockey rink cleared out right there so try not to mess it up.

Back when the DNR was seining our beach in July I asked, and apparently they were through oak narrows.   But long way to go to get to us.   I'll keep my eyes open and my mask and snorkel on.  Didn't see any sign off them this summer.

Nice job Troy.   We are happy with our opening day for ducks.  2 man limit of mixed species by 10am.  LOTS of people where we were today but that was expected.  Other than getting beat to our spot, no issues that would keep up away.  Not even the rain.

Thanks, I'm riding this now TW200 so not sure I can get on any of the ATV trails. Might have to sled by in the winter! 👍

There are actually 3 tree carvings on the trail from Soudan to Ely.  I saw 2 of them but missed the 3rd.  I believe that trail is the Prospector Trail #4 or #6.  You have to start from the parking lot on the Murray Road 2 miles past Soudan since several property owners on the old railroad bed didn't allow off-road vehicles on their properties.  Another option is to travel from Tower to Embarrass then on to Ely, but that adds a couple hours to the trip.

I've seen that caving on a few web pages. What trail is that on?  It would be cool to ride by. 👍

The colors are getting good. Beautiful time of year. Maples are full red and birch and aspen are going too.  I’m not finding a formula for walleyes. Best luck when fishing saddles and shoreline drop offs 10’ down to 20’. I’m using old crawlers, too, because a) it’s hard to find minnows although Northwoods in Cook has them and b) it’s been too warm to keep them alive.  We do have a change in weather happening right now. Wind is coming up and the temperature is dropping. It’s going to be hard to fish Saturday through Monday but the change could be good after that.  Good luck, you’ll need some. They are out there and you’ll get dinner but you’ll have to work for them. RLG

A few pics of our ride.

Thank you. Yes, weather does look sketchy but we'll make the best of it. Looking forward to the colors and just getting away.

Some more heavily fished lakes are tough ALL season.  Lake Minnetonka and Mille Lacs come to mind.  The water is clear, there are tournaments all the time, and the fish are not easy to catch.   That is why I focus my efforts on lakes with less pressure.
