Is this lake any good for fish with size? What can one expect to catch in there on a typical day? My cousin and I were going to give it a try this weekend, just wondering in general what to expect...

I would try Riley if i were you... lots of tipup action during the day and you can find the crappies with maybe a bonus eye mixed in at dark.

One of my favorite panfish lakes actually. It's close to home for me. If you try, always be carefull driving on from the public launch in the Boulder Point neighborhood. There is a large culvert with flowing water just a couple feet south of the boat ramp. The ice may be thin close to that. As for the fish, I mostly fish crappies there. I have caught many large bass, small northerns and eater sunfish. Infact, we used to get quite nice jumbo perch but I haven't seen them in a few years. They're probably still there but from what I understand the small pike population is getting quite thick. For crappies, All year I suggest the south west shoreline in the upper portion of the lake at various depths, the northwest shorline off of the big mid lake point on the east side, and for spring panfish hit the southwest corner of the lake outside of the shallow bay. Standard tackle should do the job. a White colored jig and small Crappie minnows in the winter/summer or perhaps a Berkley Gulp in the spring. Post up if you have success! Good luck!
