Services for Permanent House

It has been about 20 years since I was a kid and use to go to Mille Lacs with my Dad to a permanent house we had. Well both the house and my Dad are gone and I am looking to get back into a house with my kids but I have many questions regarding services provided by resorts. I am sure the services vary from place to place but if anyone could answer some of these questions, I would appreciate it.

With your yearly fee, does that include the resort moving your house onto the lake and taking it off?

Does the resort block up the house to prevent freeze in? Will they help get it out if it freezes in?

How many moves do you get (to chase the fish around)?

Will they plow a driveway to your house?

Do they provide LP service?

I am sure I am missing many other issues so please feel free to pass along any other info I may be obviously overlooking.

-most yearly fees include on/off lake, storage, and road pass

-most resorts do not block your house for you. you either have to be there to block/bank ir, or pay them to do it. usually about $50 or so. there are a couple that do block/bank for you.

-you don't get any free moves. it will cost you about 40-50 to move it, depending on the resort and how far you go, you of course need to block/bank again.

-most places plow a driveway, make sure you ask.

-all I've seen do provide LP service.

That is correct, that is straight off the board at the resort I am out of. Blocking and banking are $30.00 total unless it is froze in then it is different. My wife has gone up with the daughters and asked then to heat the house and drill the holes it was like $15.00.

I know that wildnerness warmth will block and bank your house for you on your pull onto the ice. if you have it moved, it then costs extra, or you do it yourself. wilderness is a little more reasonably priced and the service there can't be beat!! trust me!!

If i were you i would use steel skids. Otherwise go with milled 8x8 White oak skids.

Hunters point is a good place to catch fish. You could keep the perm on the 2.5 or the 3 mile rock reef for the overnite bite

( base camp) and it can also be good for the daytime perch if you land on the right spot.

Daytime take a portable and hit the flats, they normally plow a road out to the boot flat and the 8-mile flat. The downside with hunters point is they don't have very good bridges over there heaves.

For the customer steel runners are great.For resort owners and their bridges(depending on the type)it can really wreck havoc with the bridge.Just some food for thought.I know a resort owner that won't allow steel runners.c63

If i were you i would use steel skids. Otherwise go with milled 8x8 White oak skids.

Anyone have a rough estimate on cost for these 2 types of skids, say 20'. I'm looking at replacing mine.

I have a house a Wilderness Warmth and they have not blocked or banked my house on the first move in years. Must have to have "special friend" status for this service.

i would highly recommend getting a house on wheels. Way more options, better resale value, and u can move around mille lacs without waiting or paying someone to do so. And resorts I like Barnacles and myr mar. Both have rocks near shore and real close to the mud. Only bad thing is they are a little further from the cities.
