New Contract For T-Jack?

Sandmannd

Recommended Posts

I was reading the paper this morning and one of the writers said it's time to give him an extension. He is in year three of a four year deal and making almost $700k this year. This guy said they should resign him now and would probably be a $5 million bonus and 35 million dollar contract. Is this guy insane??!!!??? What the heck? They guy has played OK, that's it OK the last couple of weeks and that's it. Why would you commit to him now and sign up that kiknd of deal? Let him start and play next year and see if he can do a season. If he can't, cut your losses and get out. You sign him for money now you are stuck and I have a feeling T-Junk will raise his ugly head again next year.

I'd wait to see how he handles a blitzing team today.

He has looked better I'll admit.

It would help if McKinney could stop a D-End same for Cook.

LOL...i'd never re-sign the guy right now....i'd definatly wait to see how the rest of this season goes and what we do in the off season first.

Won't have to wait until next year. Your going to see him raise his ugly head today.

We'll see, I really am pulling for the guy and would like to see the Jack and not the Junk but we'll see. I still say, no matter how he plays the rest of the year to see what he does next year. Why would you rush a contract with an unproven QB??

Well, his rookie contract is up at the end of this year so you either re-sign him or release him. I wouldn't think that the kind of money mentioned earlier here would be necessary to re-sign him. At the worst, he's still a pretty decent back-up which is very hard to find in this league as well. I would re-sign him and actively search for someone to either compete for the starting job or trade for someone in the league much like we did last year with Allen. Quarterbacks mature at different rates and if Jackson can start to get the mental game down he'll be an outstanding Q-back for a long time. He does have top end physical skills.

I also read that if Jackson doesn't do well today and the Vikes lose, the Vikes will be looking to NE to pick up Cassell.

His contract isn't up until the end of next season according to the article I read. He signed a four year up front.

My bad on Jackson's contract if he signed for 4 years. I thought all rookie contracts were for 3 years initially.

They said on ESPN today ALL teams in the NFL get a $123 million dollar bump to their caps for next season. That's plenty enough to get a great QB in here.

$12.3 million? Can't be $123 million can it?

Isn't there 40 guys on a roster?? That is a little more than $3 mill a pop, totally feasible. Some guys won't see a $3 mill raise, but others will see more than that to make up the diference. Besides, what does the NFL care?? They don't pay it- the owners do.

That's a rediculous amount of money and if it's true then don't tell me you need $200 per ticket now. I would love to go to games but not gonna go when these greedy pigs don't even play hard for the money they make.

I am looking, maybe youre right- I am not sure. Each teams cap was only $109 million, so doubling it doesn't seem feasible. But it did go up $20 mill from the previus year, so I am not too sure.

I heard the same thing about the 123 million bump in the cap. Chris Mortensen was talking about it. Thats why the Pat's can afford to pay Cassell that much money to possibly be a back up.

It's getting bumped up to $123 million from $116 million.

You are correct, that wasn't how they said it on ESPN, that is why I was thrown off.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
