I heard bablers road is closed for a bit ? have they reopened yet???

just called, and he is out plowing as we speak. the lady that answered the phone (wife?) said he was going to go as far as gull rock and then see from there today.

It was closed when I got off the lake yesterday.

Drove up from the cities to fish with portables and the landing was closed. Sure glad Arnesons let us go through there with our sleds.

There was lots of snow.

Fishing was ok. I have had better there and I have had worse. We moved several times to find them which was the game plan. We fished reefs that you could not get to by vehicle. We caught our walleyes but had very few saugers.

Green seemed to be the ticket which is the first for me there. I have never used anything other then gold. One day dead sticks outfished jigging and the next day it was the other way around.

Side note....The folks at Arnesons are very nice people. I have not gone out through them in several years and forgot how well their operation runs in the winter.

According to the report I got the road is plowed and open all the way to 16 mile.

I was just up there yesterday. Fished out on the 16 and babler did have a small road out there in the am, but by the end of the day on our way in, he had it opened up pretty wide. The only problem going out there is through Gull rock area and Arneson's reef, you can't get very far off the road. Out at the 16 it is like a turn around area and everyone was pretty bunched together. I would suggest if anyone going out anywhere, wouldn't be a bad idea to haul a snowmobile or atv to get to a house if you think fou would be off the road aways.

Can a guy even get off the main road with a truck? I'm sure if you can you won't get very far. I hate when people fish right on the plowed road!

I dont' forsee that to be a problem, but you have to realize once you do plow a road you can't stop anyone else from using it and setting up near you.

Yah, if you got a plow...have at it! You can go wherever you want but like LOW said it'll be bumper to bumper down "your" road! It's kind of like throwing a marker buoy out of your boat in the summer. Throw one out and here they come!!!

NAMA... that's why I'm envious of you, you don't need no stinkn roads!! I keep trying to talk my buddy into going halfsees into a snobear, we ran into the owner of the greenbush dealership last weekend at springsteel, and I got the fever again. Ideally it would be great to buy one and lease it out to a guide (that you could trust) for the week and then be able to use it yourself on the weekend. That would kinda take the sting out of the payment, a guy can always dream...

I cannot lie, I wouldn't trade mine for anything!!! I ran mine about 1200 miles last winter and made about 10 trips to the N.W. Angle and Ontario. Last weekend I spent the night in it for 3 nights while I was up there. If your somewhat serious about possibly purchasing one let me know,I may have some information that may interest you. It's a big investment but if you love fishing like I do and you spend every weekend on the lake, then there's no other way to go. Some people have fancy boats, rv's, campers, lake cabins, wheelers, sleds etc. I don't have any of that stuff but I love my Bear!! ( oh ya..I'm single too so that helps ) Let me know if your interested and I'll pass along some information to you that may take the sting out a bit!

That's how I do it, I throw the buoy out but I cut the string and weight off..
