Made it out and the walleye bite is on. Caught over fifty eyes from 12" to 23" we kept 18 fish from 14 to 18" there was five of us fishing. It was a blast thought we were gonna get northerns and got eyes instead. A lot of other people out on this lake if they are getting the same I don't know but the fish are still biting in the mid ice season, good luck out there.

How thick is the ice on area lakes now? Just got a new portable and need to try it out soon. I'd like to be able to drive my 1/2 ton all over vs. walking as I don't own a wheeler.

Don't know what lake your going to but unless it's a known bad spot you should be good. They are driving on all lakes.

hahaha! No one asked for GPS coordinates. Just a little proof is all. Anyone can go online with a fake name and brag about catching buckets of fish with absolutely no info or proof to back it up. Most people choose not to do that, but its cool if you like to.

This sounds like what do happen to Pelican lake, between Buffalo and St. Michael. Several guy would say they had caught really big Crappies 13-15inches and bluegills as big as 11plus inches. Once everyone finally figured out where, limit after limit for guys to stock up in a deep freeze, the lake got cleaned out.

I wouldn't even give the name of that lake out. Anybody that complains about not getting a name of a lake, should start fishing different lakes. they don't want GPS spots, but in the Willmar area the name of a lake is almost the same as a GPS spot. My idea, you want to know where to fish, it's going to cost you.

Yes jiggingjim thats a fact.the internet and cell phones can strip any lake quickly! I quit posting bites and lakes back some time! My favorite lake had swarms of people on the ice 3 years in a row.Raping the lake! Now there are few out there, few fish and slow bite. But if someone starts bragging about a catch without a pic as proof.Well anyone can do that, lake name or not in the Willmar/Spicer area.Or any area just to boost and build their egos.I guess if thats what pops your tart then go ahead and feel your the best.

I can't believe a picture of three walleyes would make you guys believe we caught 50 fish. There was five fishing we kept 18 total between 5 people. Why only keep 18 because that is all we were going to eat. The group of guys I share reports with and share info with will have a few times a year where we get into eyes like that fun when it happens but didn't know it could upset so many people. Jentz I could give a [PoorWordUsage] less what you think of me I'm not out to boost my ego just sad that's what you think. Was hoping to get people excited to fish but it backfired and the majority of you are jealous or [PoorWordUsage]. Don't believe it if you dont want to Im not forcing you or any else to. Didn't think the truth would get people jumping down my throat so bad. And the bite is done out there already to let ya know.

I agree if people spend more time trying to find and catch fish instead of bashing others maybe they could find active fish like slurpie did

Shallow bite or deep bite? ben hitting my area in 8-9 feet every one is out deep, I'v ben alone getting slow bite but the one I went home with yesterday was a dandy. Nothing came through the hole under 20" out of the 9 I did manage to catch.

Nothing unbeleivable with your original post. 5 guys 50+ fish some 12'- some bigger ,only kept 18 Good for you and your fishing buddies. smile I wouldn't have named the lake either, May have taken a picture of some by another lake with a recognizable land mark in the background. grin

  • 2 months later...

Made it out for one last time on the ice on Saturday afternoon. Was a long walk and lots of hole hopping but caught some fish. Ice was good out from shore but bad by shore. Found out white was the color and they got really aggressive, didn't keep any but was fun. Fell into the water on way in but hit bottom only got wet little past knee high, bring on open water.

These high winds today and upper 70 near 80 degree temps are the best thing we could ask for with regards to eating ice.
