Couple of pike that showed up for a photo op this morning.

Here is a pike I got on Saturday the 20th. 39" 18.4 lbs. She tasted great out of the smoker!

Thanks. The skinny pike is my very first dark house pike. This is kind of my son's gig. He was interested so I helped him get into it. Today I got a turn with the spear I made for him a couple years a

You're close. All I've ever found in them are kokanee salmon, even though the lake is full of perch.

Well I'm jealous... How long does your season go over there? Looks like MI is still open too, what is your close date?

Nice pictures and fish 9tine thanks for sharing.

I have speared a few pike with trout in their bellys and those fish are typically fattys.

In Montana it's as long as you're brave (or stupid) enough to go out on the ice. I grew up in northern Michigan, and it used to always irritate me when pike season closed at the end of Feb.

went out to test my new spear for 1 1/2 hours, the welds were still warm and weren't even cleaned up, but I love this spear. full-40781-30828-p2270004.jpg

Nice mount!! I just had a visit from my brother who brought my pike from last year to me. It was his first solo mount and only the third he has done. He was kinda hard on himself about a few mistakes, but I think its awesome.

Well, it starts again... I didn't even get a break between deer season and fishing this year!! Not that I can complain too much:) I got out for a couple hours last night and didn't see a fish. The lake looks really cloudy, but I'll be back out there after I get some biscuits and gravy in my belly. Four clear inches on the lake I sit. Hopefully I'll have a better pic than this one to post later! full-39199-39455-cam00104.jpg

Nice! I usually transition from deer hunting to a week of rabbit hunting, then hit the spear shack, but with a later deer opener pushing into the end of November, I have the ice itch and the lakes here are ready. Your photo did NOT help scratch that itch smile

Good eats there Gordie! Its been really slow in the spot I had my house last year... Only seen two small pike. Water clarity is horrible from all the wind before freeze up, I wonder if thats whats keeping my pike from coming in there. If I don't have any action today, I will be taking action.

I went to a different lake because the lake I'm on is dirty too, but I know of a couple guys that are spearing it,they do very well but, I did try for a day but, I don't care to strain my tried old eyes that hard wink. I also feel that the pike are less spooked when the water is a bit dirty too.

Still slow in my spot, I'm gonna have to get out with the portable and try a new spot/lake. My buddy did spear his first yesterday, the only one we saw. A 33", kinda skinny but the pic makes it look even skinnier. full-39199-40411-cam00119.jpg
