Worry about yourself fellas.... Worry about yourselves. smile.gif
You people have NO IDEA about ANYTHING RELATED TO ME other than a few fish pictures. Isn't this the "Bragging Board"? Aren't we supposed to show pictures of fish we caught? Jealous perhaps? Or am I gonna have to listen to some "lame a$$" story about catch and release...AGAIN! Get the heck off your soapboxes!
Braggin board....Sheeesh!
PS: What if I said I don't eat fish? grin.gif
PS: Huskies, you can jump in my boat anytime. I have more picture too. All LEGAL and some will make your eyes pop out of your head. grin.gif

Let me start out by saying I don't know "can it be luck?" from Adam. I've read plenty of his posts and many of those pictures look like they are from Lake Erie. Out there it is perfectly acceptable to keep fish of the size in his photos.

Mr. Special,
Sorry for not responding. Most were caught while manuevering through COMMERCIAL NETS and thousands of dead fish caused by them on lake Erie. Some on Bay de Noc(lake Michigan). The 1st and biggest one was caught 3/26/04 on the Fox River in Wi. The Fox has a run of lake Michigan fish.
Basically they're all from the great lakes.
PS: How many of you folks making comments about my keeping fish have ever fished the great lakes.....With success? I'll bet it's a big fat ZERO!
PS: rms, your the winner! Right on the money!

Edited for eyes', it used to read 4/26. Hope the following posts are less confusing.

If thats how you justify keeping prime spawning fish by saying its legal...that's fine. But there's also a reason people practice catch and release, that there's an increase in slot limits, and that discussions are taking place about reducing possession limits.

I can only imagine the reaction I would get on this board if I showed pictures of 100, 50 inch muskies that I caught and kept. Perfectecly legal...doesnt mean it's right.

There are some huge walleyes in the great lakes that's for sure. Good Fishing

I like my eggs "over easy"...You? How do you like your woman? Or fish?
And if you eat musky, more power to you! Not my place to tell you what's right or wrong.

Can it be luck hit it right on the head the reason i started this thread was i wanted to see everyone fish they brag about. As long as the fish was caught legally and in all ways in fair chase, and you put in the time to catch these or if you just get plain lucky, everyone needs some, you deserve to be able to with it as you want, but i wanted to do this so people can feel proud of the fish they caught. not to belittled by other people. Is it wrong for a person who only fishes for trophy's who keep one or two big fish a month or even a year, or a person who goes out and keep 10 crappies, or 6 walleyes once a week or twice a week, you can argue and complain all you want but please do not pass judgement on people who you have never met. have you ever been deerhunting and shoot a nice ten or eight pointer, and at the registration someone says you shouldnt have shot that because it is the breeding stock or that there are much bigger bucks? it is a real buzzkill, which i have been there, i shot my first buck with only 13 inch spread and i caught so much heck for it you wouldnt beleive.

Thanks for all you who will help me keep this thread, i hope to see more pics of proud papa's with a 8 inch crappie and a beeming smile from a three year old. or more big fish, both would be great.

Settle down now... Didn't know they were all from the great lakes... One quick question though... How did you cach that big one one 4/26/04 when it is only 4/14/04? Smells fishy..

You're alright Chris. I like your style. Wise even in your young age. wink.gif
Yes, I agree, when one is lucky enough to be successful in their hunting and fishing ventures, why do people always put them down. I have my ideas, jealousy and lack of knowledge. But these are only MY IDEAS. I'm not for once saying that this is the case, just a guess.
Shoot a nice deer(in your's and my book smile.gif), and get ribbed for it. Terrible.
PS: Chris, you have some nice photos yourself! Be careful that you don't let the PETA members on this forum see them. They're everywhere and they disguise themselves with clever little names!
Thanks for this thread. A little "excitment" is always welcomed by me.

Hey eyes', why are you so pessimistic? Why are you looking for an "angle" to dis-credit me.
I'll tell you what. I'm not gonna make this easy for you.....YOU LOOK UP THE REGS!!!
Smells fishy.....Good grief! Are you implying something or do you always talk out the side of your mouth?
My mistake eyes' it should've read 3/26/o4. Sorry! smile.gif

ALL I AM SAYING THAT THE DATE TODAY IS 4/14/04 SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CATCH A FISH ON 4/26/04... THAT DAY IS NOT HERE YET... UNLESS YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE?

Canitbeluck, do you know me? Sounds like you do a ton of prejudging of people... You basically said that one shouldn't talk unless you know what you are talking about but I guess that must only apply to other people right? I am kind of a peta member, people eating tasty animals...Thats what it stands for right?

Question for CIBL. What do you do with all of those fish that you catch and keep? When you keep a limit of 6-7 pounders, that makes 40 pounds of fish. Do you eat it all?

Link to comment

Yes, I pretty much keep fish only a couple of weeks out of the year or for a fish dinner...Fresh. Most all water that I keep fish can harbor a VERY HEALTHY fishery. I fish all year long. The rest of the time I fish I throw them ALL BACK! I give a few away too. How am I viewed now? 300+ days a year of C and R. The BIG walleye in the picture, well the first posted pic anyways was the only one kept. I caught over 400 fish in a couple of days and kept 1. A couple others were over 30 inches. I kept that one because it darn near topped 14 POUNDS! grin.gif Just a couple pounds shy of some state's recrd books.
Do you know that the PWT will keep and kill over 10,000 lbs of fish over a 3 day tournament? Most MN lakes only give upward to a couple 1000 lbs of fish to the PWT. Is that alright or should it be banned? All the fishing heros seen in a different light....As scoundrels! grin.gif
PS: Erie has NO POSSESION limit, only a daily bag. Realisticly I could keep over 15,000 lbs of walleye from Ohio...Legally.

can it be luck,

Thanks for responding. I kind of had a feeling they were from Erie. My buddy was there last falls and he told me how fishing goes over there. His arms are still sore from that trip.

Again great Pic's

Hey guys! Keep the photos coming!

Yes, this is a metro board. Lots of metro people fish lakes that aren't in the metro. Plus, this is the only bragging board going on the forums I frequent so I got to put the pictures somewhere. The bragging board was definitely a good idea!

huskieplayer-
the Pike are from Lake of the Woods. I had 2 more this spring get away from me frown.gif Couldn't tie into a Red Lake pike this winter with tip-ups. Only one I got on was on my crappie rod and that fight didn't last more than 2-3 minutes til boing!

I've met "Can it be luck", and he is a very nice guy, so lets keep things calm here. Everyone has opinions and everyone's opinion should be respected regardless whether you think it is right or wrong. All of us here are good people, so lets not get bent out of shape, and instead lets get back to sharing some pictures and having fun.

I stayed out of this one, but need to get in now! I know CIBL as well, and think he's a great guy, and could care less if he kept some 40+ lbs. of walleye in a day! Eat 'em up! Everyone should know the facts before criticizing! Just my $.02! Everytime someone posts something about keeping a fish, they get fried about it, it's stupid!

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .
    • SkunkedAgain
Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!
    • PSU
How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!
    • jim curlee
I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
