Geno,

I just got a look at the replay at lunch and all I can say is that the umpires call is not final because it is right, it is right because it is final. Think about that for a while!

I did not realize that AJ had such a wing span, or was that light that an infielder could knock him over with a feather!

Ya but the kicker is the ump that made the call did not see the "so called contact". He was looking at 2nd base and watching the player receive the ball, then turned around and saw AJ crying and pointing his finger at someone, and then he made the call.

Come on Gary,

AJ did not just cry and point his finger....he was shouting "obstruction" at the top of his lungs too!

Can't find it either maybe check over at Rube-Chat but trust me it's insane the fielder never touched AJ even when AJ did his act and stuck out his arm to initiate contact I don't believe contact was made and then he just flopped.

Pathetic from AJ's and the umpires standpoint.

Mike,

Let me guess, you loved him when he was sporting the Twinkie uni and making those plays against the White Sox, right?

Windy

It's the old saying.....

You hate him when he's on the other team, and you hate him just a bit less when he's on yours.

Mike,

Let me guess, you loved him when he was sporting the Twinkie uni and making those plays against the White Sox, right? LOL And it was the same ump who gave him the drop 3rd strike call in the 2005 playoffs against the Angels, pretty weird!

Windy

You guessed wrong. I have never liked AJ. I will admit I hate him A LOT more now that he's with the Sox though.

That's what I thought, Mike and Pier. I was just stirring the pot a bit. And if anybody is looking for the replay it was on mlb dot com but not sure if it still is. And to put to rest the controversy AJ did not run out of the baseline on the grass, he came close but was always on the dirt and there was contact made ever so slight contact but contact still the same but AJ did look like a condor coming in for a landing. He had the landing gear down and elbows fully extended and did an Acadamy Award Winning flop after the slight contact was made.

how would he get pushed when he is falling backwards? that was a horrible call!!!!!!! He falls flailing his arms out and gets rewarded.....The things we are teaching our kids....cheating is good and if you are not good enough quit. (9 year old Conneticut boy can't pitch cause he is too good the other team forfeited when he took the mound).......

I didn't mind AJ when he was a Twin. I was sorry to see him go to the Sox because he now is the enemy. One thng I will say for him is that you have to be on the ball to know how to take advantage of these situations. As far as teaching our kids, we are the ones teaching. When we see something wrong, point it out and explain why it is wrong. AJ is not the teacher. The 9 year old thing still has me confused. How can you justify walking off because something is too hard?

Guys,

I never said AJ got pushed, I said he fell to the ground after contact was made. I also did not say that the fielder initiated the contact and I am feeding no more bull than AJ did on the play! LOL

Yeah,

When it comes to his looks and hair, you can take the boy out of Minnesota but you can't take Minnesota out of the boy! LOL

Depends if you are reading a Chicago or a Minny newspaper.

Maybe we need to start another post..."Tied or not tied". laugh

Hey Windy speaking of bats, maybe you better send those sox some new ones. The bats they have now has a lot of holes in them...

Twins in FIRST and the sox are tied with them, but fading.

You are right Gary,

That tomato can they faced yesterday should have been pounced on. I can't understand how that guy has a record of 20-2 this year and is the hands down Cy Young winner from the AL. I guess the Sox should have pounded him into oblivion! We shall see how the Twinks fare against some pretty tough teams coming up. 4 at Tampa should just about do them in, according to my calendar.

Even a broken watch is right twice a day. How about the last 5 times against him, and I don't even know the answer.

Here is the first game I found this year. April 18th he went 8 innings giving up a whopping 2 hits and no runs against the Twinks. Like I said, even a broken watch is right twice a day!

And Pier,

You must have forgotten the July 25th game that he went 8 innings against the Twinks giving up 2 runs in a win against the Twinks. I will keep looking and get back to you.

Now Pier,

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't July 25th come after July 6th? On my calendar it does so how could you have beat Cliff Lee the last time you faced him????

Just ax-in'

Holy cow Windy take a DEEP breath, I love where we were and what we are doing for the near future. The Twins were picked to finish LAST in a good division. I do believe we will push the SOX (both red & white) to the end. We may or may not win the division or the wild card, but look who the SOX(s) will have to play in the playoffs Angels & Rays. But the future with 5 yes 5 quality starters and with an offensive line-up that is getting stronger the future is bright and starting to glow.

cool

By the way I do believe that last series with da Sox could be interesting.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
