Hopefully a while.

And if the Sox continue to Collapse like they are currently doing today, down 5-3 in the 8th in a game the Sox pitcher had a PERFECT Game going through 6 innings it may be a LONG while before another change occurs!

I don't know if I would call two losses to the best team in baseball a collapse but, it is what it is, and the roller coaster ride has many ups and downs left in the ride. May the best team win and here's hoping the Twins get the wild card!

TB is only the best team in baseball because the whitesox lost at home 2 gams in a row and the Twins beat the angels 2 games in a row in California.

booyah!

Windy, I might even concede 1st place to the Chisox if they keep the Bosox out of the wild card.

Windy, I would settle for the Twins getting the wild card, but I would prefer if the White Sox got it!

Sled,

The Rays are not just the best team in baseball but they have the largest percentage increase in victories over last year. Sounds like a little "sour grapes" coming out of the old Sled thread! How did you like AJ's well executed interference call yesterday? Smartest guy in baseball! Also, fun fact, the ump who made the call is the same ump who made the famous AJ call vs the Angels in the 2005 playoffs. AJ better buy that guy a steak dinner! Sox back on top.....to stay????

Ude,

I am with you 100% there. I might even concede the Central if I could be assured that we got the wild card over the BoSox. Wouldn't it be sweet to have a playoff without the Yankees or the BoSox? ESPN would probably shut down for the playoffs and not even bother reporting!!!

Espn would have coverage for a Pong playoff if Bosox, or Yanks didnt make the playoffs!

Nice cheap play by AJ. What a jerk. Can't believe the moron umpires would fall for that either.

Mike,

Let me guess, you loved him when he was sporting the Twinkie uni and making those plays against the White Sox, right? LOL And it was the same ump who gave him the drop 3rd strike call in the 2005 playoffs against the Angels, pretty weird!

I can't believe the ump made the call of interference, when he was looking the other way. He was looking at the person at the time on second base receiving the throw. Then he turns around and see's AJ laying on the ground crying like a cheap baby he is. I can't believe no other ump saw the flying elbow in mid air shot. When the ump looks at the replay, he is going the slap himself for falling for that ploy.

Your right Windy, he did it here also, but that doesn't mean we approved of what he was doing. He just plays the game the cheap way. I guess he doen't have the talent to play it right.

Still looking like 9-5 road trip.

Gary,

Aren't they 2 and 2 right now? That would lead me to believe in a 7 and 7 or at best 8 and 6, how do you take the leap of faith all the way to 9-6? Just trying to understand the Twinkie logic. Kind of like getting from smart baseball using all the rules to your advantage to a crying cheap baby! U guys crack me up. You could not have loved him more when he was sporting the Twinkie garb and you know it! LOL

Windy, FYU, he wasnt very well liked when he was a Twin! That would be why he is a White sox

Wandering,

I guess he had to stop in SF first, before coming to the White Sox but whatever, I seem to remember lots of Twink fans who loved AJ and did not like it when he got traded but I guess my memory is failing. And what is FYU? Was that just a typo and should have been FYI? I'm guessing yes.

Correct 4 wandering eyes. We HAD to PUT up with HIS actions, and we did have to listen to the aftermath, when he pulled some of this stuff. It and he was a pain in the neck.

Windy I am PETER POSITIVE and not a negative nelly,

Can not answer that question, and would not want to go that far out. To many games left, but I like your thinking.

Ude,

I think Gary was reffering to all the Gnashing of teeth and wailing that was going on when the Twinks were down by a game and a half! He is just stating that he is a glass half full guy. I will give him that and here's hoping the glass is half full of something distilled with about 86 proof or better because I think this is going to be one exciting ride as much as leechbait thinks different!

Very good windy. I do only need 80 Proof so far, as I only have the sox to worry about. I have seen to many seasons in my time. Late September is another story.

Ude I would think you would understand that one.

G.C.

Did I just agree with Windy.?????????

My boss uses that if I think a plan isn't going to work. "I want you to think PETER POSITIVE and not be a negative nelly."

I been harping on my GF to think PETER POSITIVE, but I just can't get her to go for it yet (her name is not Nelly though, so there is always a chance she will change)!!!

BTW, saw the replay, and that was a terrible call. If one game means anything at season end, that would be too bad.

But bad calls happen occassionally...just hoping it ends up as meaningless.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
