Post all Rants, concerns, and Frustrations regarding the Twins longest road trip "14 days" in 40 years!

Personally If the Twins are within 3 games of the Central lead after this trip I'll be pretty happy.

Tonights match up versus Tori Hunter and the Angles.

Lackey (10-2, 3.22 ERA) vs Scott Baker (7-3, 3.91)

Go Twins!

The real season starts now...Lots of scoreboard watching.

3 game sounds reasonable to me...To bad these are night games out in LA. I hate west coast game. An old guy like me needs his sleep. grin

Were gonna win Twins!!!! etc.

Hopefully they can win at least one Angel game and win the series with the Mariners, Oakland, and Toronto. My prediction is a 7/7 split being a game or two out of first at the end of it all. I think we'll have a good idea if they can win the division on how well they handle this road trip. Time for the Twins to turn it on.

I would settle for 7/7 on this road trip! If only we can talk windy in getting those Sox to loose a few here and there wink

The White Sox are going to need to help us out over the next few weeks. They are just too hot right now.

The twins aren't too shabby lately either, The darn homers the sox are hitting are unbelievable. Must be nice to have a $120 Million dollar payroll. It's going to be a good seriese with the Angels.

And what is the Angels payroll? And the BoSox? And the Yankees? Dollars don't always mean wins, though it ain't my money they are spending so I say, sign em all!

White Sux still have a 10 game losing streak to go through yet this season. Twins will be fine.

I can see the Twins sneaking two from LAA, two in Seattle, two in Oakland (maybe three), and two in Toronto. That's 8-6 in the next two weeks.

Chicago might get one with Tampa Bay, three with Baltimore, one with Boston, and three with Cleveland in the same time period. They do have nine of the next twelve on the road. So, they could go 8-4.

If my North Dakota math serves me that would make the Twins behind by 3 games due to the fact the the Sox play two fewer games in the same time period.

Optomistic? Yep, that's what fans are supposed to be.

This will be a big test for the twins if they can come off this road trip with better then half the games won they will be in great shape for the final 4 weeks and yes i think they could go 10-4 out west.

I'm hoping for a 9-5 road trip from the twins. The whitesoxs always struggle in the month of September. Weather gets colder and the balls stay in the park.

It's do or die time. Let's hope they do it! It may be a stretch, but I too think they could go 10-4. Let's hope I don't eat those words!

GO TWINS!!!

You guys sure are a lot more optimistic then I am.

I would take 7-7 for sure which would be better then our sub .500 road record we have this season!

Punto had a great night. If our boys would quit swinging at pitches in their eyes (Young) or looking at third stike pitches over the heart of the plate (Harris, Morneau) we may just go 8-6 on this trip.

The Sox have a long history of a late season dive and should start this any day now.

Twins up by a game when we get back to the Dome 9/4.

Go Twins!

Well the Sox havent been showing any weakness lately! So they better hurry and take this dive quick.

I think if the Twins are going to win the division, they are going to have to work for it this year.

Baker = first unlikey hero

Punto = second unlikely hero

Span = who needs Cuddy

Who is Cuddy?

Cuddy is the one you all will be crying for when one of our outfielders get injured or goes into a slump!

Kubel is a streak hitter with good defense.

Gomez has good defense, but is having a real struggle at the plate. Way to many strikeouts.

Young is still up in the air. His defense is slowly and I mean slowly coming around. Some good plays, but a Flyball to left and if he has to move, it scares me. His offense is fair as I think he should take a few more pitches and quit swinging at the first pitch.

Span has been solid since coming up. Great offense and good range in the field.

Cuddy has already shown what he can do. Again another streak hitter, but his arm is # 1 quality. I would not try to run on him.

Just my .02 worth.

I am still sticking with a 9-5 road trip

      On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

      Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

      Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
