The Naughty Pines is up in Ear Falls,Ontario West on 804 i believe. A gal i work with won a discounted trip at the walleye expo. sounds like alot of people won trips!

You are all thinking of the right one. I have been there twice on "trip giveaways". These are usually not free trips, as only one "free certificate" can be used per party. It would be free only if you went by yourself. From what I heard last time I was there (August 2002), almost everyone was there on a giveaway. The fishing was fairly good both times, and the scenery is beautiful. It's maybe not the best deal you will ever find, but its a pretty good bang for your buck. In my opinion anytime you can get away and take a week to fish and enjoy God's creation, its a good trip. Just some thoughts.

I believe in order for 1 person to go free you have to have another person paying full price? Everyone who put their name in that box WON.

That's exactly how it works, musy be the only way for them to get people up there.

I went there 3-4 years ago and thought the facilities were decent but expensive, the walleyes were small and we had to run a long way to get them.

Ya I won a trip last year up there but it didn't work for me to go up there. One other guy that when with me also won and he was unable to go as well. To busy to fish it's terrible. If you split the cost of the trip though it isn't to bad about $425 (around 850 for the paying guest by themself) for 5 day if I remember right. I requested a video from them and from the looks it looks like it was more a bigger northern lake than walleyes but show several walleyes to granted it is a video. They have a web page just do a search for "Naughty Pines Fish Camp" and you will find it. Curt they are one and the same place the base camp is on Wegg Lake and all of it is part of the english river system
[This message has been edited by iffwalleyes (edited 03-10-2003).]

I won a trip there 10 years ago.
My Dad and I went and split the price of
the second trip.
The weather sucked. It rained for an hour every other hour for the days we were there.
The place was very scenic, and believe me we
saw the area the first day as we hunted up
some fish. I ran into a guy I went to school
with, also a guest of the resort(small world)
he had been there before and knew of a couple
of spots close by and shared them with us.
I was dissapointed by a couple of things that
really surprised me. If I had known in advance it may not have been a big deal.
Here is the list of "surprises" I had. You decide for yourself.
1. Canadian prices.....American funds only!
The guy said "put that stuff away we only
deal in real money here"
2. Our cabin was maybe 8x8. There were
several of these small cabins and some
nicer bigger ones...no running water
meant a run to the Toilet and shower
(in the rain). The cabin was so small
the groceries and us didnt fit into it
at the same time. There were no
cupboards and no storage. (Those plastic
storage boxes would work perfect...we
didnt have any...but I do now!)
3. I never understood this one....If you
used one the their boats you got a tank
of gas per day included. If you used
your own boat gas was 5 dollars a gallon
(none included)
4. Bait was provided, except there was no
bait. On the second or 3rd day a few
minnows showed up that we divvyed up
amongst the hoard. (We had brought some
bait along, but not much since it was
provided.)
Ok.....Knowing then what I know now It would
have been a dream trip IF .......
I knew up front
about the American money deal, we had pockets
full of Canadian money that wasnt accepted.
Brought lots of bait
Brought lots of gas (I did have some extra
gas along and with all the rain I was sweating bullets it would get lots of water
in it.)
Fishing was good, it was wonderful country
and a good trip overall.
It reminds me of my number one "Rule of
the Fishing Trip".
Here it is...
Be prepared to take care
of yourself. Dont expect people you dont know to do a good job. Bring as much of everything as you can possibly bring.
OK maybe thats 3 rules, but if I had followed
them (and it hadnt rained so much) it may
have been the trip of a lifetime.
If you win the trip dont be afraid to take
advantage of the savings. It is a great area.
I have mentioned everything I remember.
Curt Quesnell
