I heard some people were doing good out at Long Point in about 31 feet of water. Has anyone else had success out there recently.

I think it's been pretty hit and miss. The cold snaps seem to slow it. I've been in 26 and 36 feet the last two times and they were about the same. A lot of fish on the vex, mostly small I would guess. Hard to catch, really finicky. If you see one 10ft of the bottom go after it, they are usually larger and more aggressive. The best reports I've heard are 34ft. The best bet is probably to avoid the crowds and go deep, I'd guess. I think most people out there are at least 31ft, probably deeper.

ive been fishing long point all year. the best way seems to get past all the houses 35-37 feet during the day. we have 2 shacks out there one in 27ft one in 31ft lots of little ones in these areas.been using potables to get out deeper.towards evening we head in to around 15ft where we do well also seems to be a quality not a quantity bite.

Thanks for the report guys, I thought it was pretty hit and miss, and it sounds like there are quite a few little ones. Which can be fun at times to catch at times, but in the long run they are just minnow stealers, that end up back in the lake.

Four of us fished Long Point on Fri. (2/28) and Sat. (3/1). On Friday in the morning we fished in 30 feet of water and it was slow. Moved to 34 feet of water at noon and the afternoon was extremely slow. On Saturday, we set up closer to shore because of the weather and were in 20 feet of water. Lost count of how many dinks were caught and they were all the same size. My buddy commented that he was starting to wonder if he was catching the same two or three dinks over and over again. It was definitely a case of quantity over quality. Between the four of us on Sat. we had two keeper walleyes. Late in the afternoon, one of the guys did catch a 10+ nothern, so that was the highlight of the day.

Been on Long Point past 5 weekends. 34' has treated us well. Sutton spoons, glow jigs been best. Have landed 5 walleye over 27" in past 3 weeks. Lotsx of fish(most small), but pick and choose and 15 keepers is fairly easy.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
