Lindydog,

Those are the ones I'm looking for. Mostly on the south side of the lake for now.
I know of the one in Excelsior, and there is a Co. Park off 7(do I have to pay for that??) Any others??

I just learned of the one in Brown's Bay off of county 15. right before the Tanager lake bridge.

yes the one off of 7 on 44 is good. I don't know if you have to pay during winter, but during summer tues-thurs were free if I remember right. Also if you go past that one and continue to 110 you can go right and that will take you to cooks bay access or if you go left on 110 and left on halsteads you will get to halstead bay access. both of these are free. there is also(or used to be) a little known access into gideons bay off of 19(take a right at the sharp left turn).

There are many fire lanes which double as accesses in the wintertime. One such access is behind the Old Log Theater, onto Excelsior Bay.

Don't forget about North Arm and Maxwell Bay both have public access fer winter and summer.

You maybe can get out on Wayzata bay beach, but on Sunday there was a thin ice sign and water all over - not cool, but we went around and drove out.

I think most of the launches are spoken for now.

schr0563, when are we going hook up and chase dem tonka walters? I'm trying to twist Tonka Boy's arm on a long Sunday trip on some main lake structure. Any ways..Later.
OH on Sunday I got one worth talking about a 20-21" wayzata walter just after dusk on a glow devil and minnow piece.

I know of only the access in Gray's bay off 101, but could somebody give a short or long list of access point to the lake.

Don't need a long discription, just maybe the Co road or Co road and than what street name ect.?

there's quite a few--what side of the lake are you looking for?

Go to this site...use the zoom feature to get to the lake you want. The public accesses on the lake are the red dots. The nice thing about this is if you use the information button and then click on a lake you go to the DNR page for the lake and can check the survey reports or look at a topo map.

yes--very good site. Also if you drive around the lake you will find others not listed on the site(ie. browns, excelsior, etc.)

The Park access off Co. 44 (Edge st.) Is closed. I made the mistake of going to that one the other day. They plow the road to about ten feet before the access then put a fence in front(not sure why?). If you plan on just walking out it is still possible.

Three kids(or daredeviles) have drowned while on snowmobiles in front of the #44 park access. So when the park was put, in the powers that be decided nobody will use that access in the winter. That will also keep use riffraf off the ice. Just like the three winter accesses that orono closed on Smith's Bay. The three mound closed on Cook's Bay. One of those was on park land. The three mtka beach closed on Lafayette Bay. One of those was also on park land. If any of you live in these areas, maybe you could ask the people in charge why they are anti-fishing. Especialy parks. Where can I find the spell checker?

I suggest checking out the book called "Fishing the Twin Cities" its got almost all accesses marked on this lake as well as others... you can pick it up at Borders for $15.00 +/-

What's the best way to access the Enchanted Island area?? Are the narrows there safe to drive across usually?

Just wondering how I can get out to a few spots.

To get to Enchanted Island, just drive out to the island on Tuxedo Drive. Once on the island, drive to the bridge between Enchanted and Shady. You can drive off either side to Phelps or to Howards point.
