Put Monroe In Left

I agree. Last night I am not sure really if he misplayed that ball that hit the line or not. But what ticked me off was the way he very non-chalantly "jogged" after the ball got past him. Where is the hustle? He did the same thing tonight when he missed that cookie-no hustle going after the mis-cue. Gardy needs to sit him a day or two and send the message that that might have been ok to do that in Fla.-but not here. Last night the camera showed him trying to apologize to Nathan and Nathan wanted no part of it. Take a seat dude. Show some nads Gardy and sit his rear down! He just looks aloof out there. The Marty Skoula of the Twins. I agree-put Monroe out there. He deserves it as he has gotten some key hits while Young is plinking sissy grounders to second. Take tonights improbable comeback as perfect example. For the most part, these off-season additions are awful-with the possible exception of Tolbert and maybe Hernandez. Rest should be shown the door IMO.

No Major Leaguer should miss a routine pop fly like he did tonight, unless they are looking into the Metrodomes roof for the first time.

Monroe can only hit the soft-tossers. That's why he's had success in spot situations. Put him in for the whole game against a legit starter and he's a disaster at the plate.

But at least he gets the team some power/runs scored instead of grounders to second and aloof play in Left.

For some reason, Gardy is going to stick with him all the way.

The St. Paul PP had an article on Young today. He is Gardy's man. Like my son said..."million dollar talent, 5 cent head".

He hasn't done the ball hit him on the head Willie Norwood routine yet, so there is some hope.

young look like he does not even want to be out there, not to mention that he sucks! putting anyone out there would be an upgrade. gardy needs to grow a set.

Monroe should be put in right, not left. Get Cuddyer out of there. He has missed more routine pop flies then Young this year and at least Young hustles to the ball, not to mention the potential he has.

I still laugh when I remember the pop up cuddyer missed this year that went right in his glove and popped out and hit his head. Ya he still got the out but that was lucky. At least Monroe could get to the fly balls in time too.

Cuddyer=WAY OVERRATED!

Is Young any better????

BTW- after the game, the 3 in the studio said the same thing I did, after I had put it on here- don't think I am alone here.

He was brought in to add some power to our lineup and hasn't hit a single home run. After he gives up the in the park HR to tie the game he gets up to the plate with bases loaded and 1 down. I'm thinking this is a great situation for him because the worst thing he can do is hit the ball on the ground so might as well get 3 good hacks for the fence. Sure enough ground ball double play.

I've been on the "give him some time" bandwagon but this is getting ridiculous.

Bassislife- What game(s) are you watching? Young does not hustle to the ball at all-he just jogs after it, especially when he misses it. At least Gardy had the common sense to sit Young tonight. He definitely desrerved to take a seat.

Just to remind everybody, Cuddyer is hitting .228 he is making 6 million a year and is supposed to be in the Prime of his career.

Cuddyer also royally messed up his finger sliding into third base. I wonder if he is truly back to 100%. He seems like the type of player to say he is so he can play.

maybe thats why that ball skimmed off the side of his glove and it cost the twins the game.

Even though there are parts of the team that need improvements, overall after losing santana and hunter we are doing pretty good. How about slowly last night, he looked great, and gardy let him finish the game, which is fantastic!! Now for the yanks.

BTW- Cuddyer was signed to his current contract after he batted almost .300, 24 HRS, 109 RBIs, plus he had like 20 OF assists that season. Glad you don't like Cuddyer, but I think I'd take him over Young anyday.

obviously who gardy has in there now is working, and I am sure when it stops, things will change.

Im a fan of Young, he is a young player who needs playing time to evolve.

Cuddyer is still better than us, I say keep him in right field. There have been better players that have made errors like that or worse and never get ranted at and it happens. Can't play perfect every game...why not say something about Morneau getting looks like 2 strike outs every game in the last 10 games?

before we trash young too much, has anyone taken into consideration that he is 22 years old? obviously there is no room for improvement....lets give up on a former number 1 prospect. if they dont make an immediate impact they never will...just ask josh hamilton.

Yup, and Childress tied his lifeline to the sinking ship the USS Tavaris Jackson.

When you play and watch enough sports, you know when players have the "it" factor. Many #1 prospects have looked good only to fizzle at the pro level. There are many positions such as pitcher that require grooming time but outfield is not one of them. Young doesn't truly hustle to balls. He runs close to the spot and does awkward feet-first slides and misses the ball. At least Gomez puts everything into getting there even if he misses it. Young looks lost. I'm not giving up on him, but I think that Gardenhire is hitching up to the wrong wagon with Young. Bench him for a while, send him to the minors, find a way to ignite the fire. Young needs to find "it" because he doesn't have it right now.

The "awkward feet foot slide" is on foul balls. I've seen him make that play before and he'll make it again.

He had a rough stretch in the field but he still has all the potential in the world for a 22 year old kid.

Hopefully his bat will come around to where it was last year and then we potentially have a very nice couple of young outfielders!

Where was Cuddyer when he was 22?

Well, since we all know you hate Cuddyer, whenever he hits a HR (like he did tonight) throws out a runner trying to make it to 3rd on the fly, don't get up and cheer. Just shake your head and say he got lucky. He's hit plenty of HRs and thrown out plenty of people the past few years (at second, third and home), you'll get plenty of practice. And I will make a deal with you- I will do the same when Delmon Young does the same. I bet your neck hurts shaking it saying he got lucky alot more than mine will. Young has yet to impress me, and as my original post says- PUT MONROE IN LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said Z, and I agree by the way. He was pretty much given the job in LF. Make him earn it. So far, he hasn't...

You'd be much more disappointed with Monroe in left. He's obviously not what he used to be.

they got delmon young for his power but yet they teaching him to take the ball the other way where his power is not as great. I like the patience that alexi casilla has shown at the plate and gomez also has started to take more pitches and hats off to morneau for digging all those balls out of the dirt thrown by our inept infielders (left side) baker scheduled to come off dl who gets sent down bonser to pen bass sent to triple a? twins should have won both lastnights and friday nights game. errors = losses

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
