How is the crappie bite going on Spring Lake? Anyone picking up the a few walleyes out there. I have been out to Prior the last couple of days and it is starting to pick up, but so are the crowds of people.

I went to Spring today and must have lucked out. I hadn't been there in a number of years but usually caught fish when I went. I went off to an area that I fished in the past, eyeballed it up with a couple landmarks and drilled my holes. I set up my Vexilar and immediately thought something was wrong, it was lit up like a christmas tree from the bottom up about 10 feet. Anyway, I put down my line and it never got to the bottom before a crappie hit it...and this was repeated for 1 1/2 hours with the occasional bluegill thrown in. I never had time to put down a second line. I guess I caught 40 or 50 fish, all of which were put back. Eventually I was able to get the second line down and schools came through rather regularly until about 4:30 or 5 pm. Then I saw few fish and couldn't get anything to bite. I did ice one walleye about 13 inches. Most of the crappies were on the small side but if I had been hungry, I would have had no problem sorting enough for a meal. I'm wondering if everyone else was catching fish, I saw a lot of houses being moved.

Pathogen, Where approximately were you located on the lake. I have been all over this lake for the last 2 weekends and have 3 crappies and about 5 small sunnies to show for my efforts. I have moved all over the lake and can't seem to find them just an occasional blip on the vex. I found a place tonight that looked promising with decent activity showing on the vex. I caught 2 crappies the first five minutes then the vex went blank and nothing for 2 1/2 more hours. I probably should have moved again but I got lazy. Any help would be appreciated. Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
