Has anyone been out on prior lately? I have'nt been out in a couple of weeks and I'm planning on being out there on Sunday by sand point. What is the ice like now?

Posted

I was just out yesterday in this area. I have a perm out there. The ice is fine. BIte is very slow with all the houses moving around and no snow cover. Fish are very picky.

I'll be out tonight....

Will have Dennis Steele's camera with to find out what's goin on down there.

I also have a shack out in the Sand Point area. Ice is 13+.

Hey Jala,
What time do you plan on going out to sand point? I'll bring the MGD. Hope there's more to be had than last time. 2 pickle-perch make for a long day.

I'm thinking early after noon or late morning. The wife is working and I have to drop the kid off at grandma and grandpa's. I bought a marcum lx3 that I have to test out before LOTW.

Boatless wait is your email address again I lost it.

How thick is the ice on Prior? I (with some other guys) am helping my neighbor bring his permenant house out Sunday morning. The house is a beast and weighs a ton. I would imagine there's enough ice, but just checkin'.

Hey WWG,

When I ran into you out at prior last year, you had told me about a lake in the area. I drove by this lake and was wondering about accessing it. I was wondering if you could help me out with this question. You can drop me an email if you want ----> [email protected]. Thanks

I made it out for a little while late afternoon yesterday with Mr. Clean. We managed 8 or 10 nice crappies and all the sunnies we could catch. I love when you can't keep your line in the hole.

Versus...........

No problem. As long as I'm invited. Water is very low this year and I was skunked the only time out there. However, I have heard a couple of positive reports. My cell number is on this thread. Give me a call anytime.

BMAT43...........

Sorry I missed your call yesterday. I left my cell at home. I have a very busy week this week at work and am going to the Cool Cats on Ice event next Saturday and I am sure to have daddy daycare duties on Sunday after being gone all day Saturday. I might get the kids out Sunday though....depending on how cold it is cause they can only be locked in the shack for so long...

HIT PRIOR SUN NIGHT FROM 4-9PM. A FEW SMALL CRAPPIES AND THATS IT. WE WERE AWAY FROM THE CROWD IN 27FT OUT OF SANDY. BETTER LUCK THIS WEEK.

I was out from sand point and the island yesterday in 22' and caught 2 fish in 4 hours. Nice!!! AT least it wasn't cold.

IS ANYONE GETTING FISH IN THE DEEPER H20 S.E. OF SANDY SOUTH OF THE ISLAND? 30+FT

Posted

I went out yesterday with my underwater camera. I went to 5 spots on the lake..
saw some bass, and jumbo perch, anchor, paddle, a fishing pole, pile of rocks, some tires.. i illiminated 4 spots that i would never fish...

Posted

I am just south of the Island in exaclty 30 feet of water, and have had mixed results. Friday I was out and caught half a dozen crappies and a couple of small sunnies.

Last night (Sunday) I was out from 4-7 and we got 2 crappies total. Lotta houses have moved in the area in the last week. Others claim to be having some luck near me, but I haven't seen much besides friday night.

How was the fishing in the "5th" spot?

Did you happen to see a small transistor radio, a large set of keys, a mini brinkman flashlight, or a plastic Spongebob doll..............these are the things I contributed to the "structure" this year.

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
