Anybody been out on Bush yet this winter? It's isn't far from my house, so I figured I'd go out and try to catch some pike. Any reports or advice? Only fished it in summer, never been there during the winter.

It's been quite a few years since I fished it last, but we did 'ok' for pike on tip-ups. We walked out from the beach and across the lake to a small point on the far side. At that time there was timber or brush sticking out through the ice. We had tip-ups all over that point, as shallow as 2-3 feet and as deep as 8. Pretty good action. I think there was a spring or maybe just some thin ice there too. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Close to home but I've only fished it in the summer as well.
I don't have any tip-ups as of yet, but I need to add to my fishing arsenal. Thanks for the excuse.
Lunker, are you heading out to Bush this weekend? 2x the holes, 2x the chances, maybe I'll head out as well. Let me know.

I was hoping to hit the lake on sunday. I only have one tip up right now, so I figured I'd put one tip up out( I have herring, and I'm willing to share it, its dynomite everywhere I've used it)and jig one hole, also for pike since the pannies in bush are tiny. There is a nice point a short walk from the access parking lot, so I thought that'd be a good bet. If ya wanna head out also Buz, drop me an email at [email protected]. Could do saturday if that would be better.

I just heard a report of a 2 lb+ crappie coming out of Bush from the N/NW end. I hear the majority of the crappies have been small though. I've had good action fishing tip-ups for pike but most have been small. I'd start on the weedline off one of the points. Lots of small pike but you have a shot at a decent tiger muskie. Vern

Hey guys I was thinking about heading to bush on Saturday, if any of you go ill be ain a portable clam, I might have to get some minnows and tip it up then. I have only panfished bush and it was ok but slow. The nor5th side is the best.

With the beach being closed over the summer because of high levels of e-coili, doesn't that bother anyone as far as wanting to keep a few crops for the frying pan?

Well I went out today for a couple hours on the south side of the lake. Was in about 5-8 feet of water and was trying to sight fish. Caught one measley sunny and thats it. Partially becuase a animal of some sort kept coming up my hole and trying to get into my portable house. I was about 12 inches away from the water and this furry creature swam up and scared the hell out of me. I wanted to fish the northwest side but didnt want to drive out there. There were alot of trucks and about 16 inches of ice but didnt want to.

There is a small parking lot when you get to the north side, its in someones yard. Is this a city parking spot or is this just someones yard that people park on and then walk across the road?

Overall didnt have much luck but it wasnt my fault. It looked like a small beaver.

I think you wuz bein' stalked by a muskrat!
Heart attack zone when those little buggers pop-up thru a persons hole...yow!

I don't know much about that north end lot. I tried to find it in the summer because I shorefish Bush a lot. I'd love to be able to park on that side.

Anyone?

I had my first muskrat experience last weekend while sight-fishing for bluegills in about 5'. I saw a nice pike staring down my jig, but suddenly he swam off. I bent over & watched the hole closely expecting him to come back when all of a sudden something else quickly appeared. He shot straight up the hole & popped his head out. I jumped back in my seat & let out some kind of terrified scream. He shot right back down the hole. I scared him as much as he scared me. I was concentrating on that pike & wasn't expecting a hairy rat to shoot up the hole. Kind of funny, I'm sure I sounded like a scared little girl. Vern

Vern,

Now that is funny!
Hey, I love innercityfishing. I don't have cable, but I was at my buddy's house (has cable) one day and I watched your show for 4-5 hours straight. What a great show. If you ever want some new blood to fill in the gaps I would love to fish with the guys.

Great Show!

Lunker and I hit Bush today with not too much success.

Note to Lunker: I had two suckers thieved from my tip-up in the hours after you left. Seems everytime someone would walk up to see how the fishing was, my flag would pop-up and my reel would go-a-spinnin'.

Alas...no fish.

Look forward to next time.

Buz, I guess it was good that I left those suckers with you huh? I'm surprised even with the quick strike you didnt get them, i guess it wasn't only me. Yea, in the hours we were both there I had one run that produced squat, and after that zippo. At least ya had some sort of action after I left. How long did you stay? I guess everyone gets skunked sometimes, this was my first of the year. O well, nice day, nice to fish with ya.

What show do you have?

Also anybody know anything about that yard that people park on towards the northwest bay. Its right across the road.

Glad you like the show Buzbunni. Thanks for the nice words. We haven't done a new show in about 2 years, but I guess they play some repeats now & then. After 30 shows or so, we just needed a break. But it was too much fun & we miss it, so we're going to put together some new stuff in the next few months. E:mail us if you find an interesting bite & maybe we can set something up. Thanks, Vern

Fisher03, InnerCity Fishing was a cable access show in Mpls. that I did for 3 years with my brothers. We fished a lot metro rivers & lakes as well as a few road trips to the Red River for cats, Rainy River for sturgeon etc. We fished more for oddball species than we did bass or walleye, but we tried to mix it up. The show was just a fun hobby & was always done with a sense of humor.
