Does anyone ever fish this lake? I've been out there 4 times and my holes are the only ones on the lake. I've been fishing near the launch cause I like the drop-off. Any ideas?

I'm not sure. I live close to the lake, and I really never see anyone fishing it. In the summer all I have seen come out of that lake are little sunnies. Do they still have some kind of areator out there? They did last year. You might be better off fishing Red Rock down the street.

Power stroke have you caught any Crapps?

i fished this lake all the time in high school
we would always go before basketball and football practice to the opposite side from the boat landing where there is a drainage pipe and caught huge bass
my friend took a 9 lber out of there in the spring before the season opened
and yes i know that is the state record
there are also muskies in that lake they have been trying to get a huge one out of there that is always seen hanging around the beach
i have never seen it but have been told it is around 50 inches
i have ice fished it before but i personally think it is a waste of time but it can get really hot in the spring before the weeds take over the lake for huge bass
there are a ton of them in there from 2-6 lbs

There used to be a healthy population of good sized sunnies in there.
Not sure if they are still there though.
There is an aereator in the lake, when they turn it on, you will know where it is... it's right out from the boat landing near the deepest spot in the lake.
For sunnies, try along the north side of the lake. Where the bank is steep down to the water there used to be a couple of trees leaning over the water. They might be in the water now, but go out about 100 yards from shore. Used to be 10-14 feet deep there. Look for the edge of the weeds. My Grandpa and I used to hammer the sunnies there... haven't been out there in years though... This area to look for would be 60-100 yards east of the walk over bridge. And when one of those big bass grabs your wax worm, HOLD ON!!!!!

Hope that helps.

Well, I haven't caught any crappies yet, but I've caught a handful of sunnies (5-6" range) and missed a lot more bites.

All of my fishing has been at sunset fishing a glow ratso tipped with waxies. I haven't really tried anything else. I did miss some slip-bobber hits last week using a 1/16oz jig and a rainbow minnow. I'm catching them in 20-22' of water suspended usually 5ft off the bottom. Theres a great drop-off just south of the launch

According to the 2000 survey of the lake there are good bluegill and blk crappie populations. There were 2 walleyes also caught from some mid-80's stocking. Other than that they caught NO pike or muskie, but like was said, they stock tiger muskies every 3rd year. I wouldn't mind taking one of those on the tip-up.

Chris (sportfishin) anytime you want to come out and join me your welcome. I don't have a shelter so I just keep the bucket warm, but I do okay.

The fishing pier is still in its place (I know some places release the pier during winter)and as far as I can tell the aereator is not on. There are 2 spots that have a barricade and some yellow tape on them, but I haven't gone near them.

Hey Powerstroke,

So that has been you out there on the ice. I live right on the west side of the lake on Atherton Way. I've always been curious if you have been getting any action out there?

I fished it this summer one day, & if I were to ice fish it I would wonder over to where they had the fishing pier this summer there is a good break that drops down to 24-30ft out in front of where that was. I marked alot of fish there when trolling over it in my boat.Becareful though that aireator is near there somewhere?

WalleySnob,

You're right about that Big Ski. She is huge & more close to 55-60" in length. She has made many attempts at my offerings but never hooked up with her yet. One smart fish though. frown.gif Last time I saw her she was over on the north shore line just on the weed edge this Aug. going for my Pike Harasser.

Later,
Chris

Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
