I've been out there twice and my usual December walleye spots have been a bust. I've heard recent reports that indicate the fish may be a bit more shallow in the evenings than I would have thought. So I'm going to try a couple of things out on New Years Day. Where did you put your Shack?

I have my house right out from the landing in about 14 feet of water. I will probally move it farther out to the nearby hole. Got any pointers? My first year on Eagle. I wish I was closer to Minnetonka frown.gif

Beware... I bought a Zercom Flasher on Ebay from excess technologies. I tried it out tonight for the first time. It doesnt work for S**t. I have requested a refund. Im going to get an FL-8.

I've only caught walleyes on Eagle during Prime Time (4:00-6:30PM). Glow jigs with medium fatheads under a bobber and small jigging spoons w/ heads have worked for me in the past. Give your current spot at least a couple of evenings of quality time before moving on.
Good Luck.

Moved my house out into the middle of Eagle Lake this evening. About 20 feet of water. Didnt get my lines down till approx 7:30. Only a few Perch. I believe the lake is safe for automobile traffic. I have been driving my suv out for the last couple of days. I noticed about 14 inches of ice where I was at tonight.

Its pretty much been the dead sea from what I have seen. I have heard a few people having some luck, but I didnt see the fish though.

Moved the house farther down the shore line towards Pike east shore towards Pike Lake. Me and the wife were fishing in 13 feet of water. All we caught were some small perch. It was the 1st time she had ever been ice fishing. Nothing came up on the vexilar, very disapointed with Eagle Lake. I may be moving to another lake soon. I need to find a decent crappie spot.

I waas out on MEDICINE last night DAM COLD but there is always a good crappie bite I got 8 between 9-11.5 inches threw them al back but decent bite I only spent a hour in that crappie spot just look for the houses and pop a few holes 30-35 feet of water is the key there

Thanks for the tip bud. What side of the lake? How is the ice? Is it safe to drive? I have been driving on Eagle Lake for a week.

come on guys, nobody has really caught any walleyes on Eagle have they? The DNR says there is nice fish in there but I've tried fishing walleyes at least 6 times and have not had a single bite other than a perch. I tried deep, I tried shallow nothing seems to work. Some pointers PLEASE.

Newcomer,
I've had the same problem. I'm not sure what to think about it other than maybe there is a bumper crop of perch this winter and the competion is too tough. I'm stumped also. And angry.

I had the same luck last year on ice and only a little better on water. I drove the civic out a ways just check things out today. The dakota will be soon. I dont fish it as much and hit med or sarah more. I like to catch fish and dont mind some perch but that is about all i've found there. I'll have to give it another effort soon.
There is/was one eye in there around 18". I c&r'ed it last winter
GOOD LUCK

I have caught several northerns while fishing, between 6-9 pds. albeit fun not what I was/am after. I have moved around a bit on the lake and found the far end for m the landing (near pike lake) to be the most successful for me. I ahve been fishing between 20-35 feet of water and the fish appear to "cruise" through here often. You can tell when the suspended fish drop to the bottom (also I ahve a camera). We have caught 5 walleyes with a little size to them. C&R all of the fish I ahve caught. It has been a battle of the wits and I still think I am losing.

Hit this spot. It will be your best shot for Walleys on Eagle. The GPS coordinates are as follows -

N45D 4.989M
W93D 24.125M

That hole is your best bet!

from my drive home across medicine tonight, it looks like they all moed out there

was on eagle two weeks ago. caught a hundred tiny perch but did have a very large fish on my 4lb line. Acted like a musky in the winter before it broke off. only got a glimps of it. was a large fish.

I moved my house to Medicine Lake last week. I gave up on Eagle. I may come back to try the deep hole at the other end of Eagle if the Crappie bite slows down on Medicine.

Anyone having any luck on Eagle lately? I've never tried it so any tips would be great.
Thanks.

I used to live near Eagle and fished it many times, but not recently. I never caught a decent crappie or bluegill there, some nice bass (my largest ever came from there, 5lbs 13 ozs) and a few decent pike.
Through the channel is Pike Lake which used to be a pretty decent little panfish lake, but there has been a lot of developement in that area over the last few years and I haven't heard if Pike is still worth the effort. My personal opinion about Eagle is I would go there only if it were very convenient, you can do much better elsewhere.
