cedar lake

I was out on cedar lake saturday and we just killed the crappies in about 7-9 feet of water it was one after the other. I was useing a red glow jig about 6 feet off the bottom. Man we had a ball just thought I would let everybody know.

I've been meaning to head down there but haven't so far. How far is it from the cities(around edina or mpls)? Thanks

Slaughter, did you have any luck on sunfish? I heard cedar lake(prior lake area) is good for nice sunfish.

Cedar Lake....

I have been wanting to try cedar again. I was out there last year once - about 300 yards in from the west launch. My kid caught the first and only fish - we had 6 lines out.

I ran into Icewolf on Prior last night on prior and discussed Cedar. I would really like to make a trip there sometime with someoen that knows the lake. It's bowl for the most part and maybe we just had bad luck...

Would like to get out there though - have a bucket of HUGE shiners mixed with fatheads and crappie minnows - still kicking from last night (is 9:24 am tuesday the 23rd) let's use em up.

WTTF, what days were you looking to go out? I may be of some assistance.

Cedar is a good lake for eyes and gills. the best spot to catch eyes is right off the point straght out from the new (east) access. The point is an old submerged road that goes accross the lake with some rock piles. It is good structure. south side is the best for the gills.

How's the ice on Cedar? Are people still driving full sized trucks out there? I haven't been by in a couple weeks. I know once it warms up that lake deteriorates pretty fast. I'd like to get out on Saturday. Is one access in better shape than the other?

Drove by last night. Yes, folks are still driving out. It's weird to look out over the lake and not see the hundreds of ice houses. It looks like someone plowed a road from the north side all the way to the south side of the lake.
