Linwood Get Together Recap

A good turn out for our first Metro Get Together. It was nice to put faces to a lot of names and to see old faces as well.

The crappie bite seemed endless at times, although the fish were a little on the small side, but we managed some nice fish. Here's SeaBass77 and cgw got into a few nice crappies....

Oh yeah, Dennis Steele caught a slab too ...

A lot of pike were caught as well. Tip ups were flyin all around us as well as jig sticks. I know that cgw and his crew caught a lot of pike.

Here's another pike that I caught...

bhorn made the trip all the way from Illinois and caught his fair share of all species.

There is a long list of people that showed up and I don't want to start listing names because I don't want to leave anyone out.

I would like to mention that it was nice to see G-man bring his dad and Exudedude bring his dad out as well. I must say, both dad's are two great guys!

It sure was a blast meeting everyone and fishing with all of you. Everyone was awesome and I had a great day on ice!

I know I probably left a lot out, but I'm sure I can count on a few others to fill in there stories.

Hey, it was good to meet you Matt, and meet some of the iceleaders guys. Also got to ice plenty of crappies, sunnies and a weird perch with no stripes, just blotches. Got to try an LX-3, nice...Special thanks to Dennis who pulled me and all my traps to shore with his sled. after haulin' them out there and then walkin' around talkin to people and kneeling on the ice alot I was getting rather sore and tired.
Congrats to Buzbunni, Chip, and walkabout for iceing their first fish ever! cool!

Matt, great update. Looks like fish were caught and fun was had by all. I planned on attending but I also had promised the wife I would finalize X-mas shopping with her and then had the Vikings/Chiefs game to attend. There simply were not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Hope to see everyone on the ice at the next event. It also looks like with the Viking victory we may have a "Purple Christmas" afterall...

Matt: Thanks for being a great ambassador for the outing, it's always nice to have somebody say "hello" before you even know what you're doing (even after .)

Cyber: You saved the day brother. Thanks for you're generosity with the Vex and you're shelter. I would not have been able to make it through the day without a bit of a windbreak; the Vex tripled my success.

cgw: Was that you're crew queing up all those northerns? Tip-ups are on my shopping list for tomorrow (and, some other stuff).

Exudedude: Thanks for the initial meet and greet; sorry you were leaving when I wuz arrivin'.

Dennis: Thanks for the rides to and fro on the sled. Looking forward to icin' some cats. Nice slab. Don't worry, we all saw the one that got away (see my signature...)

Had a great time! As always getting out and meeting FMers is a good time.
IT was good to see some old faces and meet some fresh ones.
The fishing was pretty good too.

I think the fish follow Cyber around.Every time he came up to my shak there were fish and when he would go check some other hole they would leave!!!

Was awesome again. Each of these FM gettogathers that I have a pleasure of attending I have a great time. IF you have always thought about commming to one you really need to do it!

Great group of people we have here! And yesturday was there just to reinforce that!

Nice job MJ5, you put a good one togeather. Everybody got fish! Fun was had by all, and thats what its all about!

It was great to put some names and faces together at the Linwood event. Fishing was pretty good and the weather cooperated nicely as well.

Was wondering if anyone stayed to catch any eyes. Couldn't stay had to go home and watch the vikings and sleep. Yeah we got a few pike of good size. great time fishing. I'll have to fish that lake more often. Thanks Matt.

MJ5, It was good to see a nice turnout for the event! Although I did'nt introduce myself to a lot of people I still had a great time. Weather was FANTASTIC and some nice fish were caught also, personaly I did'nt do that well but still had fun!!

It was great meeting everyone.
Matt and CGW- thank you for the help with the tangled mess on the tip-up. For those who don't know the story, I had a flag and let the fish run,run, and run. I set the hook, and pulled him in, feeling a lot of resistance. The next thing I know, there is my underwater camera and my other fishing line being pulled up through the hole (shack was set-up about 10ft away). Total catch-1 camera, 1 fishing line&bait, 0 pike.

G_Man-good meeting you. We'll have to bring the grill next time. We could have had a venison feast. I see that you been hitting Nokomis recently, we'll have to give that a try sometime.

Ya Hey Der-Su,after I figure out some sweet spots on Calhoun, we can get together for some fishin. Hope the fishing went well on the other lake. Next time I'll have to set-up right next to you since you seem to be the fish magnet.

Josh- nice meeting me. I forgot your login name.

Seabass77- Joe, you take the cake. That was the largest crappie I have seen in person. Definitely the best fish of the day. Is there any NE Minneapolis lakes that you hit. Never fished that area.

Brian Jones- good to meet ya. Hope all goes well with the cat slaying today. By the way, nice 28" eye you caught. Saw it on you web page. I'm gonna try and make it to the Winni tournament. Thanks for the info.

What an awesome day!

It was great to meet so many FMer's yesterday + catch the end of that beating the Vikes dished out and then watch the Wild spank the Blue Jackets! Does it get any better?

Dennis, nice fish...I hope your not competing in the Ice Leaders tourneys because we are all scared now !! Also, thank you again for the barley pops and ride to shore!!

Hope to see you all again soon...hopefully at the first Ice Leaders event on Winnie!

It was nice to meet some of you, sorry I didn't visit more but the action was constant. I was expecting a lull around noon but it never happened. I wanted to stay for the evening bite but I had some keepers and left just in time to see the game. Thanks Matt for putting this together and the next one I go to I will try to visit more.
