meh. ive been out with my grandpa when we had to take a boat out to the ice! ive had some of the best ice fishing in my life out on the slush!

Good luck with that. No fish is worth dying for. If you've never dropped into 34 degree water, fill your tub with cold tap water and get in. That's 50 degree water.

ive been for a swim in 34 degree water. its definately cold. the fact is usually you just cant get to the ice well before its unsafe to walk on!

Done the polar plunge 2 yrs in a row now, and that wasnt even chasin fish!!! Im thinkin I can wait til netx yr to risk my life on ice , I'd go to Bigstone

You did say you used a boat to get to it, didn't you? I figure going through the ice now would be more dangerous than it would be in January. I would imagine you would have a better chance of getting back out then than now, albeit a small difference. The water temp would be about the same give or take a degree or two and as far one's body goes, it too would be an insignificant difference.

ya ive been out plenty of times where we used a boat to get to the ice. didnt make it out this weekend though, had too many things to do around the house, garage, yard, etc... looks like minnewaska will be open for next weekend!
