Coon Rapids Dam...Is the water high enough to launch?

I know they are bringing it up to summer pool, but is it there yet? If launching from the park, can a guy get out of the lagoon?

Is there any kind of a crappie bite in that area of the river?

There's another boat out here today, doubt if he launched at the dam, they usually have a cable across until closer to opener. Want Crappies, fish the visitor center section of the dam, both sides, upper by the inlet. Been a long time since I fished there but I doubt it's changed. On the river, I don't have an answer for you. confused.gif

Crappies in da sippi are few and far between. Sure they are in there, but the chances are way better on a lake. Plus they'll taste better from a lake. If any place will have them MSRD just said where. Good luck - be safe - that water is COLD.

A better place to launch might be the launch on the Rum about block from where it enters the Mississippi. I am NOT sure it is open yet but if it is that is where I would launch out of. I don't think they have the launch at the Dam open yet? Does nayone know for sure?

Many years ago, I was a seasonal park ranger for Anoka County Parks Dept.,and yes, the cable will probably stay up until at least the Opener, and way back when it was up until Memorial Day weekend.I worked the Coon Rapids Damm Regional Park the entire summer one year, so I kinda know the routine of that park.
