I have tried a bunch of ways to get jigs to glow and try to keep them going for a while. I have done the lantern route, flashlight, headlights, matches and whatever else I could find to get things to glow.

I discovered last year that the best way to get the jigs and bobbers to glow for a long time is to use the flash from the camera!!!

I am sure I am behind the times with this but thought I would put it out there for others to comment on and enjoy. The old detachable ones from the 35mm cameras. They are removable, do not need to take a picture to get them to work and one set of batteries will last forever with that kind of use.

Better to pass the tips on as I have picked up quite a few already.

Anyone else have insight into this? I mentioned it to a guy working at J**'s and he had never heard of it. That is why I posted.

Looking forward to meeting up with some FM-er's on the ice soon.

I have used camera flashes too they work well. you can also use one of those little LED lights to "zap" the jig to get it to glow. There are many brands out there. some are brighter than others.

One of the best ways i have found to get the jigs to glow is to use a spotlight, on of those 2,000,000 candle-power lights, This will make most jigs glow in the daytime even.

Boy I'd love to see you guys on the lake at dusk or dawn. Flashing ice houses with strobe lights. Talk about scaring away others! LOL

Once my little LED flasher started to fade I accidentally invented a good way to do it. I bought another one--the little fish-shaped LED clip. I taped the two of them together, button to button, with tape around the clip-end only, then attached it to my clipper lanyard. Now I don't have to fumble for the button through my gloves; I just squeeze the whole assembly together and both light up (the old one dim, the new one bright) and together they zap up my jig pretty quickly. For the long narrow jigs you can even hold it between teh lights and do both sides at once. If I were starting I'd buy two flashers and tape them together; quick and easier to handle.
