The way our weather has been yo-yoing, I believe one would be safe in saying that by july 4th, the ice will for sure be gone.

The earlier the better. Get those water temperatures up and get those fish feeding.

I'll cross my fingers for April 2__something_, call it April 24, but in all reality it'll probably be like May 1 or so.

I have thought about this and have come to a conclusion.

I do not care grin.gif

The next time I am on the big pond, the ice will be gone.

If I was betting on anyone one so far, it would be HarveyLee. He won a contest last fall for predicting the out come of ice. I never get it right.

Maybe this is the year the gill nets will be out in full force on opening day because of the late ice - How do you think that will go? Could be ugly.

Yea, it would be terrible to run into all of those nets. What on earth would we do with them after untangling them out of the prop?

I'll rope it in a bit & say April 27th.

It's too bad they aren't required to put out their nets in birch bark canoes and tie the nets with animal hair. Gotta feed the casino go'ers somehow. But whatever.... My guess is May 2nd!

If you catch a net, cut your hood out and makes sure the hole is big enough for a fish to swim through.. J/K

To the other Helix users.  I have a Helix 7 Chirp SI GPS G2 that I am having down imaging issues with.  I am sure it is a user error.  I have a lot of clutter on the screen.  Basically a horizontal line of clutter at every foot and the detail level is terrible.  I understand it is not a Mega unit but this lack of detail and clutter is not helpful at all.  I am on the newest software (2.000) and was having the same problem before updating the software.  I can switch to a regular sonar view and see fish and switch back to DI and do not see anything.  The only way to get that horizontal clutter to disappear is to take the sensitivity down to 1 or 2 and then I can't see anything anyway.  It is not networked, nothing else in use and transducer is off the back of the boat.   Do I need to make some other adjustment or selections besides sensitivity, contrast, etc.?  I have tried just about everything but am not having a great deal of luck and have gone back to default setting.  Pics attached from last weekend from a very clear lake with about 6 feet of clear visibility.   Thank you for the help!

Headed out yesterday morning and got my two walleye limit pretty quickly. Also picked up about three undersized walleyes.    I trolled number six blades  all along the flats between the bridges and  the Bay. Trolled about 1.5-1.7 Surprisingly, my best producer was the purple blade
