We might try and go out in front of the VFW Saturday. I'll punch holes as I go to check ice thickness. I think the ice should be good out to where I want to fish. I won't go out there till afternoon late. If you see someone out there it might be me. Good luck where ever you go, and be careful.

went on White Bear this morning by the VFW and pulled up 5 northern between two of us. Got 'em all before 8:30 and not a bite after that.

I am heading out soon after some eyes. I am going to try off of Belaire. I saw a house out there already and talked to a guy at the VFW who said there was plenty of Ice. I will check as I go. Hopefully soon the walleyes will start. I havn't fished yet in the winter was hoping the action was better than the summer. Had no luck this summer but am hoping for the oposite this winter.

Went out Sunday just south of the VFW and the ice was good....better than I expected. It was about 5 inches thick and in good shape. Now if only the friggin fish would have cooperated...

The VFW is right off 61,out from the dock. Take your 2nd right after White bear ave.

Drove by there today and took a look. There were two houses out about 50 ft. from the point where the marina docks are stored. I also checked at Bellaire, lots of trucks parked there but there was just one house out and a fishtrap out pretty far in the middle of the lake. I also saw one of those sail/ski sled things zipping around the VFW bay.

I am going to try it this weekend. Not sure where to start. I may start on the break of the point east of Bellaire park. However not sure. Otherwise I may try towards Montimedi somewhere

I was the one out last night in the fish trap thing. The word of the day was "slow". If it would have been any slower it would have been stop. I was fishing the edge of the weeds in about 18' and saw a grand total of 1 fish on the electronics between 3:30 and 7pm. I won't be out on the ice again until after Christmas because I have to go to Florida. It's hell but someone has to do it. Sure hope the fishing picks up by then.

Recap: Thurs late afternoon - Out alone, I iced 9 eyes (C/R) between 12 - 19 inch.
Fri afternoon/evening - 3 of us caught 12 eyes between 12 - 20 inch. Jigging with swedish pimple/minnow head. Had steady action once the perch disappeared about 5:00. Lost a couple nice ones (broke the line). Hooked one small northern at about 8 PM on a tipup. Not much fishing pressure out there either day. We were in the north end in 14 - 20ft.
Sunday was a different story. Set up in the general area as Thurs/Fri and not a single eye. They'd come through and light up the sonar after dark, but no takers - skunked (was it the warmer weather?). Most everyone had moved off the north end of the lake by 7:00. Time to start exploring other potential hot spots.
Side note - Sunday, a guy set up about 30 yards from my portable (no problem). Then about 6:00 PM another 2 guys wedged in right between us and fired up the power auger and the stereo. No one else within 200 yards. Not very considerate. Didn't deter from a nice long enjoyable weekend overall!
