was on upper prior yesterday with wastewater and the ice was ok. about 5-6in but the top layer was all frozen slush. over two inches of this frozen slush. was very solid ice and a felt safe but it was not very pritty to look at. i would be carefull on spring - i have found huge differences in ice thinkness out there in years past. hum... we were thinking of somewhere to go tonight - ah - still think maybe carls lake just because i know the ice is good to go.

How was the action out there. did you run and gun or just set up on known past producing spots?

Being that carls is just a big bowl that only hits about 15ft...at this time of the year is it better to setup in the 5-10 foot range or out in the middle in the 10-15 foot range? Later in the season last year I seemed to find success in the 15ft range. But early in the season the 5-10 ft range didn't produce much. Any hints would be appreciated. Will be out there Saturday in black cabelas 5X6 portable. Say Hi if you get a chance.

Thanks,

Muskieguy.

I think I will play it safe and try paradise bay tonight. I'll be in the 5600 clam. I would like to try sand point, sounds too risky.

Drove by Spring yesterday on lunch. Few houses out off of the shoreline. Won't be long now!

Just wondering if anyone has ventured out onto spring lake, just south of prior. Cant wait for the crappie slaughter!
