People must be searching that area for sheds. Though it looks as if most of them are still wearing their horns

I dont see the 2 biggest deer in that photo. The photo isnt the best but I think I would be able to pick them out. I hope someone didnt poach them babies. I have never found a shed down there. Not that I go every day or anything close to that. I think the RR workers beat us to it all the time.

Some nice deer running in that crew.

It's a difficult spot to get into for shed hunting. I know of 2 guys that made it in there a few weeks back and they didn't find anything. They talked to one of the railroad guys and he said they pick them up when they find them.

I have a bigger copy if you want Steve, I shrunk it for internet purposes.

There were a couple monsters down there You'd see every day along the river just as you were coming onto the bridge coming from the west side of 35. Can you imagine if they opened that area to the city hunt!? grin.gif

Great pic Nate!

Nice Pic, It seems late for so many to still have horns.

I was down that way in Nov working and watched a heavy 8 trot into a big group of does and moved the one that smelled good out of the heard like a sheep dog. He had her cornered by some cars and would not let her go. Along came these two basket 8 and they would try and try to get close but the big guy would just lower his head and chase them away. It is kinda funny in the morning heading home from work it look like a cattle feed lot out there cause they are all lined up by the rail cars.

If you walk the woods right under the High Bridge near Birch street you will probably find sheds there in that small woods. Last fall I got a picture of a 14 pointer and 2 huge 12's all standing together real close to where the current picture was taken.

I havent worked over in Duluth too much lately so I cant say that I have seen that buck recently, but I am sure that is the one that was 14 last fall.

My office is on Garfield and I see them quite abit. And Northlander I am pretty sure I saw those big boys you are talking about sparring awhile back. It was quite a site and I wish I had a good camera with me to capture it. And also I have seen a beauty under the interstate just off Michigan St. He was literally laying down right under the bridge. It was at least a 12 pointer but it was a very unique rack. Me and the guy I work with drove by 3 times to check him out. Another time I wish I had a good camera in my work truck.

Thats probably the big one I have seen. Very unique rack. One day last month I saw that whole crew out on the ice in front of the [PoorWordUsage] plant. I wish my camera had more zoom. That would have been a great pic.

Here is a few more pictures from deer central. Out of curiosity, when was the picture in the 1st post taken? These were taken just under 3 weeks ago. No sign of any buck there that is any where close to a 14. The biggest one is a 10, but wouldnt score well because of the common base on his right antler. There is a dandy 8 in there though.

My cabin is very close to where your boat is in that pic.  It was 40 around there last weekend. Headed up again Thursday morning.

Is anyone interested in pheasant hunting in SD in Mid or Late November?  I used to do more of it but kinda got busy with really young kids for a few years there and lost the dog around the same time. I basically gave it up for a while. I would like to start making a trip or two back out to SD and would really like to meeting some other guys who enjoy the sport.  It would be great to find a few new friends around the same age +/- 10 years and maybe some of the same interests in fishing and hunting. Live in the Twin Cities area so we could drive down if you are in the area or just meet out in SD sometime.

I do not believe that is from Red. It shows sunny's under the smallest fish and according to the DNR, there are none in Red.

On the main basin... As water temps approach mid 40's, walleye anglers reporting strong fall bite. Good fish caught despite a lot of precipitation this past week.  Clear weather in forecast.  Walleyes staging at various south shore locations in 20-29'.  Jig and frozen shiner the ticket. Anchor up and jig with gold, glow red, or gold/orange.  Fish are very active. On the Rainy River... Strong walleye activity continues.  Jig and frozen shiners continue to be go to method with some anglers also trolling crankbaits.  Shiner run has slowed for the moment but good numbers of walleyes in river.  Sturgeon have the feed bag on.  The sturgeon catch and release season goes though April 23, 2019.  The bite is on!     Up at the NW Angle... Fishing continues to be excellent.  Limits of walleyes being caught in 14 - 25'.  Jigging still producing.  Look for areas of current in neck down areas and outside of bays.  Fall crappie bite continues strong.  Big pike are making their presence felt, like it or not!  Muskie trollers boating and releasing good numbers of fish.  The best fall fishing is yet to come!

Wow, it would be interesting to see if the big winners Cory, Justin and Dave all drove down from Canada together and where they hide the fish to get across the boarder?  🤔  😆

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say they did not catch a 15 pound walleye on Upper Red in MN.

Early ice I am always targeting big crappies not numbers and I always start shallower in the weeds that are still green and I use bigger profile spoons tipped with a minnow head or even a large plastic monnow profile. I find that the larger crappies will  move in for a short while and be feeding on the remaining minnows until they head back out. I fish in that 6-9" area with great results very early ice.

I'll be out second weekend in my traditional spot as well. Always see deer but I have yet to stick one. Hoping this is the year!

Wow, impressive! I was out in northern MN over the weekend and, while working on stands, flushed six. No shots as all were roosted high in the trees thanks to the rain, but made for some excitement at least.
