Perch?

Recommended Posts

Kyle Sandberg

Even though I'm gonna be headed up to LOTW to target walleyes, I wonder if there have been any reports of perch coming out yet? I'd love to get into some of these to change things up.

Also, what are the colors right know they're prefering. Thanks for all your help.

Kdawg: We had several nice perch in January when we were there. I've had my best luck on numbers of perch from late Feb to late March. they will hit on your standard walleye, sauger lures. We also had a couple of whitefish as well. Awfully good smoked. Good luck and hang on . Bill

Last Saturday the Perch bite was real good. We ended up keeping 20 perch between 11" and 13". To be honest it didn't really matter what lure we had on, they attacked it. If I had to pick one lure though, it would be the Glow/Gold Stop Sign. That seemed to be about the best for us.

Kdawg, Perch had been biting way good on the W side for me using 1/16 oz Frostee spoon in the gold back FT/perchy color with a smallish fathead, and an AEjr the same color with Shiner head. Monday tougher but the past 3 weeks had been good for #'s, other trips I'd pulled 14 and 16 count myself and I only keep em at 10 inches and up.

I saw you asked a ? of me on another thread and that is kind of an STS thing, so I will email you a tsp. full in the next day or two...K? Was'nt blowing you off eh! No rocks involved!

My Uncle has a house set up near 12 mile. We caught a bunch of perch in early January and the group last weekend did too. I also caught a half dozen whitefish too. My buddy's caught most of their perch on gold Chubby Darters and I got most of mine on a fathead under a bobber. The walleyes have been slow in our area so its nice to have some perch filling in.

Hey Fiskyknut, I'm thinking about heading up the 3rd week in March and staying at the "bend". If I want to target a bunch of Perch rather then the typical Walleye & Saugers, do the resorts cater to that or is it just typical that the perch are in the same area as the walleyes /Saugers?

Has anyone fished North Lake before? Lakefinder says there’s a navigable waterway there via Gunflint Lake. However, the map shows rapids in between Little Gunflint and Little North, with a short portage. Just wondering if I could get a boat in there.

Have got out 3 evenings so far.  Seeing deer only one of those evenings.  4 deer Monday evening with a fawn buck and a small 1 and half old buck coming within range.   Woods and fields are changing fast.

Good opener on the water in the Mankato area. 3 wood ducks and 2 geese. Little guy’s first opener, we left at 10:00 and he wanted to stay longer than I did!

As many of the other dog owners told me the third hunting season is when it comes together for lots of dogs. Finn did much better today and he got to watch a veteran dog again. I am excited to keep getting finn out hunting

We got two ducks. We should had more but it was fun shooting. I need to keep my face on my stock. I had pass on many birds as another group moved in on top of us. I had 5 woodies locked up and I drew a bead and I saw the other guys faces. No shot as i would killed them or wounded them. They knew we there but did not seem to care.

I have a 2018 ice castle with the GS trailer frame. Are you supposed to drill holes to let water out of the tubes or do the new GS trailers have holes in them already? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
