Rice Lake crappies

Recommended Posts

Wheels26

First time on the forum.

I've been out 3 - 4 times to the crappie bed and always picked a few decent size crappies from a lot of small ones. Also hit an 11 1/2 in off the point across from Fisher's Resort. Anyone else? Seems like they are very finicky and liked pink glow vs other colors. The smaller the jig and minnow the better. Agreed?

Heading out tomorrow and Sunday. Anyone getting anything after dark?

Thanks

First off welcome to the site. Rice lake has a strong year class of 6-7 inch crappies in it right now. A good outlook for the future of this system. There definately are some bigger fish to be had but you will have to move around alot and look for the bigger fish. As far as a evening bite I have caught some of my bigger crappies later in the evening on this lake. Years ago there were some brute white crappies in this lake but fishing pressure has depleted most of them, but occassionally you still run across one.

Thanks for the info.

Still a lot of small crappies. Looked like there were less houses near the crappie bed than in weeks past. Couple fishing the point.

Quite a few eyes being picked up off the North Access.

Couple permanent houses straight across from Fishers (point).

I didn't get over to the accesses to check them out. Just out to the crappie bed.

For those looking for some decent perch they seem to be hanging in the reeds chasing crawfish and minnows.   Some real dandies in there if you're in the right patch of reeds.  Not many out on the flats yet.

Been a tough bite the last couple days for me. Catching a few here and there but no consistency. Caught fish on crawlers leechesand jigging raps but for the amount of fish I’m graphing not near enough catching All my bigger fish have came on the jigging raps. How is everyone else doing?

Tried my luck on Lory lake for some pan fish. trying to catch a meal. didn’t find any sunfish over 7” and a few 9” crappies. Not what I was expecting hoping for a little better. Might have to try a littler bigger lake for some better results.

Mmmmmmm~~~~ here's one for ya! For years we have been trying to get our fave Mayfly Rafts & Spikes into a booth at The State Fair. Rafts = ~~~  Honey Waffle coated with Dark Chocolate Glaze n Peanut Butter then sprinkled with Frozen Real Maple Syrup dipped Mayflys.  To die for. Spikes  =  ~~~ Deep Fried Triple Thick Cut of F&D Smoked Bacon dipped into Smoked flavored Pancake Batter an dipped in Maple Syrup then rolled in pile of frozen Hickory smoked MayFlys. Both Killer Pak~ons seved on a stick or in a Deep Fried Walleye Belly Fillet. Power good experience that takes you places you never been before'!! : )   Keep on rocken!   T

I bet one of those little cans of cat food would work too.

@cherokee muskie-mike is spot on the dog food... When I use to camp at hoodoo point campgrounds I tend to use nightcrawlers if I have any to spare (in a minnow trap). Caught too many rusties while fishing.
