Wild Trade Rumors

Recommended Posts

Trade deadline is here and gone and looks like the Wild are standing pat. Hope they can turn it around, the next few games will say a lot about the rest of this year. I think the Wild will make the playoffs but without home ice in the first round it looks like another one and done. Next season may be a long season.

Wild acquire winger Chris Simon from the Islanders for a 6th round pick. Wild ad another goon. You have got to be kidding me. mad.gif

Fedorov went to the Caps and in the biggest deal of the day Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis goe to the Penguins. Pens give up Armstrong, Christensen, Esposito and a 1st rounder.

My thought exactly, maybe we can skate him, Boogaard and Fedoruk together and put Hanson on the back of all their jerseys.

I would rather the Wild give up that 6th round pick for Troy Williamson.

They needed someone to score the puck and win a faceoff. Well hopefully they can beat the Capitals tonight because Calgary and Vancouver are playing really good, and Avs just landed Forseberg yesterday.

Avs get Forsberg, Foote, and Salei. Flames get Vandermeer. Canucks trade Matt Cooke for a guy that has 7 points this year and the Wild add Chris Simon. Looks like one team wants to win the division. Like previously stated the Wild needed scoring and a face off guy and end up with another goon. Maybe in the offseason we can add George Laraque and skate with boxing gloves on and don't even carry a stick.

The Wild seem just like the Twins. We build from within....looking toward the future....blah, blah, blah. Hopefully someday we will get some people to go after a big name or two....you never know we might win a Stanley Cup....but as long as the fans keep coming, there is no need.

Beautifully said. I will not go to anymore games until they commit to a winner and their fans. No excuse. It is so frustrating. Look at the teams that made moves. Some of those arenas are only half filled. GRRRRR

Pathetic and an embarassment to the state and the fans that support this organization. DR- How dumb do you think your fan base is? What sense is there in bringing this moron in? We are the laughingstock of the league with this debacle. Meanwhile all the teams we will be up against (if we even make the playoffs now) made themselves better for the playoffs. Brutal.

I think you guys might be a little harsh here.

If you think about what happened last year against Anaheim in the playoffs, we got worked and out muscled. We weren't necessarily a worse team. Just not really as tough of a team. I think an addition like Simon could help us here. He doesn't necessarily have to be a goon and go out there and drop the gloves all the time. We need someone who can hit and who can stir up the game a little bit. What did we have, 4 hits against Calgary the other day?

On the other side, you guys want a quick fix and a high profile player to go in there and make everything better. Sure, it might be nice to have someone to bring some extra spice to putting the puck in the net. But is that really how you want to go far in the playoffs? You want to BUY a Stanley Cup?

I don't want to be that team. Give me your tickets. I'll still go.

He has to spend time on the ice to be effective-not sitting in the press box for another 20 or 30 game suspension. How does that help the Wild? There's a difference between being someone domiating on the ice physically vs. someone who does things on the ice that are borderline criminal acts. Why does DR want that type of guy? I just don't get it.

well, I have stuck with this team from the begining and I guess I am going to stick with same team to the end. I have hopes of them making a run in the playoffs but I think thats my "optomistic" side of me speaking! I am really bummed they didn't make a move! Oh well big game tonight, hopefully they get a win!! Go Wild!

I have to say I'm not surprised about the Wild.

As for the trades....Biff was right on the top trades of the day. Pens and Caps are gonna be great to watch through the playoffs.

It will be interesting how WCCO, the radio home of the Wild, spins how they sat on their hands and did absolutely nothing to improve the team. They are sooooo homer/biased towards the teams they broadcast (but of course flame the teams they don't).

I'm not sure it is fair to place all the blame on the Wild organization.

Obviously these top notch players have a say in where they go. Look at Forsberg. They also know what teams are looking at them.

Honestly, would you come to MN?

Just a question, nothing meant bad about it.

These players want to win a cup bad. The Av's team from a few years ago proves that.

I am sure there are players that want to come and play in front of a full house everynight. The state of hockey, the team of 18,000, the new "hockeytown", and so forth. It is are style of play that keeps people from playing here. No "star" wants to play defensive style hockey.

The Wild need big tough guys. We need big tough guys that can put the puck in the net a little and make a play or two. I can probably count on one hand how many goals Simon and Boogaard have had in the last 3 years.

It would be nice to see the hometown team make that big trade to get the superstar. Garnett with the Wolves, Santana with the Twins, and maybe Moss with the Vikes are all stars that we shipped out. What big trade for a star have we made, what Herschel Walker. Make that trade with the star being in his prime and when he is not over the hill.

As I am writing this the Wild is down 2-0. Step it up boys. mad.gif

4-1 loss mad.gif. You could tell in their body language that they were expecting a trade to jump start them. I think Lemaire needs to go. This is the new NHL and his defensive style isn't working. Riseborough should follow him. He has been the GM for 7 years now and has made 1 good trade maybe 2(Demitra and Ronning) and 1 good free agent signing(Rolston). Time to go with more of a offensive style. Sure I will keep watching them and sure we will still pack the X everynight but something needs to change. Maybe our new owner Leipold will shake things up. Something needs to happen.

I was at the game, and they were flat. I do have to say that that is a best I have seen the Caps play in the last to years and I've been to several games. The trouble the Wild have with the build from within theory is that they never have a bad enough season to get a top five draftee that can make an immediate impact. Just look at the players that the Blackhawks and the Blues have in the pipeline. They are going to be tough in a couple years. The Wild should have made a move to get some young but mature players. In the long run I don't think the Sullivan for Demitra trade was a long term winner. They also need some grinders, maybe Simon will spark up a good grind line that can put some points on the board and players on the ice.

I thought the Wild played a good game......but the caps played better. The wild had tons of shots, but lots of them were blocked. The Caps seemed on a "high" with the recent trades.

They did beat us though, even without contributions from AO or Semin.

Why the Wild didn't make any moves who know's would of been nice to see. This is Minnesota sports, none of the team's (Twins,Wild,Queens,Wolves) we never make any trades to improve their team's at the deadline to get over the hump. I feel sorry for the fans because they stick with this team through the whole season and in the end they get nothing. Instead they get Chris Simon, another non scoring goon they needed on their team.

Nice pickup front office, really waiting to see this guy step on the ice.

The wild had way to many defensive mistakes lastnight, and the Caps jumped all over them! I hope they get out of this slump and start playing good hockey again. Another game tonight a team the wild should handle, Hopefully!

I hope the same thing and Tampa is a very beatable team tonight. Its just frustrating the way they have been playing, they are much better than that with the players they have right now.

Maybe they just want to win with the guys we allready got.

As stated above, "you can't buy a cup", you have to earn it.

I know, they are in a slump right now, but they will bounce back.

And if they don't, I will still be a big fan and a supporter.

GO WILD!!!!!

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
