Early March Trip

I am planning a trip to upper red in early March. I have never fished the lake before, so our group is condidering a guide. Does anyone have some guide service suggestions? Also, to fish upper red do most of the hot spots require long drives out onto the ice, or are there places where people have luck near the shore? I could also use some bait shop suggestions, that are near big bog state park. I would realy appreciate any input.
