New Guides for Old Rod

I picked up an older rod with a nice cork handle and a zebco 33 reel as a back up in the boat for friends who I take out. I gave it a spin and there was something about the simplicity of fishing with it, it was really nice. Anyways, back to my question. It is an old rod and I was wondering how hard it would be to either put a new blank and guides onto the handle or maybe just new new guides on the existing rod? Thanks!

It would be easier to replace the guides than to install the handle on another blank.
