I've been fishin the westend exclusively for 3 weeks or so now and the bite is at the least fair to midland good. Coupla days on the slow side..{see below}.. And a coupla way good banner days too. I moved off shoreline areas week and a half ago and had been on a reliable evening Wally bite on a shallow nearshore break.

These days on the more 'Perchy' multi-species areas I'm seeing an abundance of 10 to 12 inchers with a real Jumbo or 2 thrown in each day. Nice pails of Perch with some Wally and Saugs thrown in at the end of a day. I got 16 Perch over 10 inches the one day which included a 14 inch Jumbo, pile on your Walleye limit and a Sauger or 2 and you gots a darn nice bucket! Lots of sorting some days on account of abundant weeee Sauger school's coming thru making a nuisance of themselves by eating up ones bait!! Fished a Walleye spot Friday afternoon some 400-500 yards from that mixed bag spot and hoisted 35-40 fish, 10 maybe 12 or so woulda made good keepers 15+ biggest that day about 18, 1 nice Perch, and small 2 Saugs also showed up.

Busier weekend days are consistently the slower days outside of that major cold snap a bit back. Largest fish I've seen recently came off that multi species spot yesterday evening after a 'slower saturday'. Twas caught by a friend on a gold pimple.. Round 26'r or so thrown back.

I am not fishin near Bobs set-up but I would think they are on them up there too. I heard thru the rumor mill there is a good breaker out that way and folks are'nt able to get E via p/u so you may have very little truck traffic out there.

Goodluck and enjoy....fiskyknut

Well the Pike River Dam is finally running at full throttle.  For those of you who aren't up here to see it for yourself, you can see it here: https://www.everettbaylodge.com/lake-vermilion-ice-out-2018-the-dam-is-running/

measured ice this morning.   It has not changed in the last 48 hours.    Just the shorelines have melted.   The quality of ice has gone down though.   Still Driving my wheeler on shoe.    Still 20-28 inches out there away from current.    The bay by winter access is the thickest at 30 inches.   Don

Thanks for your efforts!!! Let me know if you need any free city garbage bags; I'm involved with the City of St. Cloud Green Team. You can place them at the Munsinger Garden greenhouse, or any trail access points for easy Park Dept. pickup.

Going to get the kids out on the river today with gloves and garbage bags for Earth day.Plenty of garbage around the local community spots that can be removed.Im sure there will be more but it's something to do and it will look a little prettier out there.

Wow!  Didn't realize it was that bad up there.  That's going take a long time to get turned around.

To give you a idea of what it is like here this is how my dock has sat since last August. The river is at lake level here.  Almost no Spring flow from melting snow. Just a trickle here and there. I've burnt any grass off for 200 feet around my house, farm buildings and farm equipment so there is a little protection in case a big fire gets going. The grass has been burnt off between the highway and the airport to give Waskish a little protection in case a fire gets going south of town. Westwind cleaned their channel last fall so they should be OK for boats. Total acreage of URL and LRL is 272,000 acres so it would ONLY take 177,261,312, 000 gallons of water to raise the lake level 2 feet.

you can get to horseshoe by boat but not far enough to get any fish yet.   This may change in the next few days.   I plan on ice fishing on shoe today.   Should be able to land a nice amount of slabs.   Don

Drove by Elysian on my way home this afternoon. Shoreline didn’t appear to be pulling away, view from the highway for what it’s worth.

Got the property surveyed today. Originally plotted back in 1968 and sure enough there where metal pipes marking 3 of the corners but who knows how long it would have taken me to find them. They placed a monument on the missing corner. Hopefully this warm weather sticks around, need to remove some trees and get the wheel house moved in. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Was out on the lake today. Easy 24-26" inches of hard ice yet.
