Anyone try Redfeather snowshoes?

Question

Powerstroke

I've found a deal on some redfeather snowshoes and I'm pretty interested in buying snowshoes. Any ideas?

I've looked at the other brands and would consider buying them if they are better.

I bought a pair a few years ago. Model called the Black Hawk, not sure which current model is similar now. Has a live hinge instead of a bar under your foot so they lift rather than drag. I think the ones with the bar are made for climibing, so your shoe stays on the ground. I like them, the bindings are easy to adjust and they track straight. I think the other brand I was considering at the time was Atlas. Tried both and got the Redfeathers. Sierra trading post (dot com) usually has some on discount.

I haven't tried the redfeather shoes but when looking, pay attention to the bindings and that you are comfortable with them.

That said I have a pair of atlas 930 shoes that I tried out for the first time last night. I probably walked 4-5 miles with them, bindings are easy to open and pull tight and I hardly noticed them while walking. cool.gif

We always called them wing-dings! I also learned that trick on LOW. Very tasty!! Cliff

Anyone know how the lakes are doing in the Madison Lake area? Still fishable? Ice pulling away from shore yet?

The big storm last weekend blew a lot of ice into shore around the park point area...the south pier was closed again and there is ice piled up around the pier...not good for the coho fishing off the pier and not good for the smelting off the point. At least the weather is going to be in the 50's for awhile it looks like.

While ice fishing on Caribou, I was gobsmacked that I could see my jig over thirty feet deep when peering down the hole.

Funny and it worked.  Say, how did you get out without Mommy and the kids?
