Crapman, if you've got access to a boat (non-motor) they also spawn just inside Cedar Lake, on the left, just inside the channel that comes in from Lake of the Isles.

We thought they were northern too a couple of years ago. We were out on bass opener, & they were spawning then, for what it's worth, since I know nothing about the little monsters.

There are a lot of smaller carp in hiawatha and minnehaha creek as well, but the river is good too.Nokomis isn't as good for carp as it used to be, because they netted aver 5,000 lbs 2 years ago in the plan to better the lake, but there are some big ones.

If you want northerns i'd walk over to hiawatha. I've fished Nokomis all my life and have never seen a northern out of there. They tried to exterminate them when they started stocking tigers and did a pretty good job, tigers can be good there once the season opens. Hiawatha has a good supply of smaller northerns though, suckers are best, but can be caught on arti's as well.

If you want to catch big and alot of carp go to lake nokomis right by where the beach is i must have seen hundreds turning, jumping and just laughing at me cause i was throwing everything at them since i thought they were northerns at first. until they started jumping and i could see they were carp. you cant miss these fish they are jumping and turning up the water everywhere near the beach area where the swings are. Good luck and let me know how you did.

yeah hiawatha is where i catch all the northerns ive ever caught lol that is actually where i learned you dont hold them like bass snap snap. i was thinking i could catch bigger ones at nokomis i think the biggest one i caught at hiawatha was about an 8 pounder.
