A buddy and I fished Clear Lake on Saturday evening. We ended up catching 4 small walleyes and missing a few more. We were fishing in 11 fow using bobbers and leeches. We fished the point just east of the boat landing. The walleyes started to bite just as the sun went down and hit for about 45 minutes.

I was out last weekend and caught a handfull of walleyes but nothing over 12 inches. All the fish that I caught were fun to catch but they all returned to the lake. There are a lot of people out on the lake fishing and I hope they are not keeping these little guys.

What's wrong with keeping a 12 inch walleye? I think that is a good eating fish.

Got out Sat mid-Am for a few hours and didn't get squat, marked alot of fish just couldn't get them to bite, I fished the break to the north of the ramp primarily, again this years getting lots of "feeder" perch which is a good sign. Talked to someone at the ramp claimed they got a 25 incher, which went back in the lake also. Maybe they should put a minimum length ie. 14 inches, just a thought. I've caught plenty of 15 - 19 inch fish in that lake, let the babies go.

The hubby and I went out there last Friday night. Quite a few boats out there too. We didn't get a thing. We had plenty of nibbles but nothing would take it. I think the front coming in played a big role in the fishing this weekend.

Went out last night and fished. Did ok, but not one walleye was over 12". A lot of boats out there too. Has anyone ever got into a mess of walleyes with size to them? Just curious

Has anyone had any luck on this lake lately? I'm thinking of going tonight.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Ole#1, Dude, I've been out there twice this year the last two weekends and got squat to show except some pretty nice perch. Now, with that being said, the weather was clear blue skys, no wind to speak of and a million boats and the water clarity is at about 10 feet. Was out Sat AM and pounded it for 5 hours, did see one nice tiger muskie sunning itself up in the shallows so that was pretty cool, lots of Carp moving around also. I did pretty good out there last year but there does seem to be quite a few more boats this year... maybe the word got out or something, anyways, that my report... good luck!

riverratpete i was wondering where you saw all those carp on clear?

drove by last night on the way home from wisc
parking ramp jammed full with street parking also, many boats all over the lake,no idea if
fish were biting but the lake was busy

Lundprov, Most of the carp I saw in the shallows were in the NE corner, as I was looking at these pigs i got to thinking "next time I'll bring the bow" would have been fun. They were extremely shy I think because of the clarity of the water and shallowness.

Was out last night and saw lots of carp. Aguy next to me caught four of them on a leech. We ended up with 6 walters and kept one 15 incher. Anyone tried Martin lake by Lindwood this year?

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
