Quick question

I seem to be going through deep cells every two-three years. If you don't use all of the charge in one use, should you recharge? Or do these (Interstate deep cell) have memories?

Thanks in advance

2-3 years sounds about right if your batteries are getting a fair amount of use.

A couple things that will help prolong your battery life is to store them indoors during the winter, be sure not to have them on concrete, and fully charge them before storing them for any length of time.

When possible I run my batteries low before a recharge. If the boat is not being used constantly I will put a charge on the battery.

Thank you very much for the insight!

They also make a charger that monitors the status of the charge in the battery when it is in use and keeps it charged via a trickle charger over the summer. Mine costed like $28.

I've also found that using my batteries on occasion during the winter and then recharging them has helped with there longevity.

Thanks to all for all the insight!

What does setting them on concrete do?

I always re-charge.. no matter how little I use them...never good to let them sit around on a half charge!

Also keeping the fluid levels full will keep them from wearing out prematurly. I am not sure what the concrete thing is, but thats what I have always heard....

I agree exudedude- after use no matter how much I've used them I will throw a charger on it. The charger I have automatically adjusts the input amp according to the level of the battery. When the battery is charged, the charger will go down to milliamps and I can leave it on until I use it again. My batteries will last me 4 years.
