I've always dismissed this lake as a bullhead factory (and duck hunting slough) but was curious when I saw 3 boats out there yesterday. The DNR survey indicates that 581,000 walleye fry were stocked in 2001. It's max depth is only 8 ft. Has anyone given it a try?

I would be really surprised if it has a population of fish (other than bullheads). I fished this lake about 2 years ago and could only find 2-3" bullheads. You'll have to let us know if you find out different. Good luck!

i have a friend who lives on diamond lake, and he says there are no fish in there. it is all muck and the only boats that go out there are for tubing, skiing, and sittin in the sun.

Yea I went out there a couple times last year and caught nothing, there's no structure in that lake. I wouldnt reccommend fishing it

Used to duck hunt Diamond years ago and it had a pretty good bluebill shooting, yes it's pretty shallow and mucky. Maybe their trying to get rid of the bait fish ie. minnows. Or their trying to use it as some kind of rearing pond. Both French and Diamond have gone way down in duck hunting the last 10 years, don't know if it's urban development or the water quality that has driven the birds out, but it has gotten pretty sad.

I wish it had fish in it. I just moved a mile away from it. I wonder why the DNR would stock walleye in there if it's so shallow. Is there a creek connected to it to keep it from winter kill?
